RIMís quarterly earnings were up 45% from the previous quarter, with a record number of BlackBerry handsets shipped in the quarter. RIM said it shipped 14.2 million BlackBerrys, up 40% from a year earlier.
For the quarter ended Nov. 27, RIM reported a profit of $911.1 million, or $1.74 per share, up from $628.4 million, or $1.10 per share, a year earlier. Revenue jumped 40% to $5.49 billion. Approximately 5.1 million net new BlackBerry subscriber accounts were added bringing the total BlackBerry subscriber account base to over 55 million.
