• PlayBook Mysteriously Disappears From Online Retailers, Updated Device Rumored

And the rumor mill keeps on churning. This time, PCWorld reports that an almost simultaneous pull of all BlackBerry Tablets from major US online retailers such as Staples, Best Buy, RadioShack and Wal-Mart could, according to one analyst, potentially point to a new Tablet from Waterloo to hit the online shelves soon.

Back in July, we reported on a leaked RIM product roadmap pointing to a possibility of a 10" tablet, but it may be too soon, given that BlackBerry 10 is not even out yet. If that roadmap is still current, and given what we've seen so far it still may be, the enigmatic "Blackforest [128]" or in other words RIM's 10" tablet is not due out until Q3 of next year.

It seems like the 32GB PlayBook tablet is still available for sale from RIM's own online store, as well as Futureshop and Best Buy in Canada at a discounted price of $153 US while the 16 and 64GB varieties appear to be sold out.

According to Bob O'Donnell, program vice president for clients and displays at IDC, "There have been rumblings of RIM doing a second-generation [PlayBook] product," and then adding "I don't think they are going to quit the market yet." We can't argue with that, since Thorsten Heins has repeated time and time again that they are committed to the tablet market and will not abandon the PlayBook offering. What is more, the recently released 4G LTE version of RIM's current tablet offering is as of yet unreleased in the US, much less the rest of the world.

RIM has long ways to go before they unveil their next-generation tablet, or maybe not. What do you think? Is this all just a ruse? Leave us your thoughts in the comments below.
