• InterDigital Extends 4G Licensing To RIM

    InterDigital has extended their licenses to RIM to include 4G patents which including LTE and LTE-Advanced from the previous patents. Looks like this deal will also be multi-year, so I'm hoping that no issues arise on the legal side of things. InterDigital is a powerhouse when it comes to owning LTE patents.

    InterDigital and Research In Motion Extend Patent License and Include 4G

    WILMINGTON, Del.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–InterDigital, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDCC) today announced that its patent holding subsidiaries have entered into an agreement which extends the term of their worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-bearing patent license agreement with Research In Motion Limited (“RIM”). In addition to extending the patent license agreement for a multi-year period consistent with InterDigital’s licensing program, the parties agreed to amend the patent license to add coverage for 4G products, including LTE and LTE-Advanced products.
