• Innovative, Useful, Delightful, and Simple - The BlackBerry Enterprise Watchwords

Inside BlackBerry took the opportunity to celebrate World Usability Day by discussing the design on BlackBerry's enterprise apps with their design lead, Johan Alexanersson. Anderson states that great design is very simply "Innovative, Useful, Delightful, and Simple."

This article comes at a poignant time. Yesterday saw BlackBerry unveil a huge number of announcements (which you can watch here). But the key is how BlackBerry can deliver these tools in a way that are easily accessible and useable.

Alexandersson is keen to bring a great experience to the enterprise space: "Enterprise software has long been a backwater for experience design. As consumer user experience has gone through a renaissance over the last decade, enterprise software has been left behind. That is about to change as business users are used to the UX from the consumer world and will expect the same level in enterprise software."

I believe that BlackBerry's design-focused approach to all of their ecosystem is an important factor as well. A user of any device has come to expect a great experience. With BlackBerry keeping top-level enterprise customers on board - the first thing that you're judged on is how useable a tool is from the start. Visual aesthetics come into play alongside what is available to you.
