We've heard so far that the Limited Edition Dev Alpha device may have it's own custom color, to coming with a special engraving. It's the news that developers are going crazy over! So how does one acquire the Limited Edition Developer Alpha device?
First, the good news. RIM has kept their promise to developers that this device will be awarded to those who qualify. The not so good news. Devs will have to wait till after the BlackBerry 10 launch on Jan 30th to get their Limited Edition device. I suppose this makes sense given that the qualifying date is in late January. And I'm sure RIM will start manufacturing them once they have a solid number on how many they'll need to make.
Now, a few details from the InsideBB Dev Blog on how to qualify...
First, you must qualify under the terms and conditions, and then you must also have received a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha testing device.
- Submit a qualifying BlackBerry 10 app
- We will send you a note indicating you qualify and instructions on how trade in your BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha
- Complete step 2; a follow-up email will be sent after the BlackBerry 10 launch event on January 30th, 2013
Your BlackBerry 10 application(s) need to be created and submitted to BlackBerry World by January 21, 2013. The application will go through testing and will be deemed either qualified or not qualified based on the terms and conditions.
