  • Get Your Game On At The 2nd Annual Ottawa International Gaming Conference, May 30-31

What can be more fun than gaming and partying? You're right, nothing! So, why don't you get your game on at the 2nd Annual Ottawa International Gaming Conference? The event takes place from May 29-31, 2013 at the Ottawa Convention Center.

Anders Jeppsson, Global Head of Gaming at BlackBerry, will be there representing Team BlackBerry with the theme, "BlackBerry is Back!"

"Three years ago BlackBerry raised its gaze towards the horizon and started building the future of mobile computing. After key acquisitions such as QNX, Torch Mobile, The Astonishing Tribe and Scoreloop, and after having spoken with countless app, game and middleware developers, a completely redesigned and rewritten platform, BlackBerry 10 was launched in January 2013.

With deep social integration, a state of the art high performance OS and the easiest and most developer friendly API's, BlackBerry 10 delivers what every game developer could ask from a next generation platform. Open source, open standards, best in the industry developer support, app security, app payment options and a quick and easy app approval process. Simply put, the developers and their apps in focus!"
I got a chance to interview Anders at BlackBerry Jam Americas 2012, and there is no one better than to represent BlackBerry gaming than him (well, Sean Paul Taylor too).

The Ottawa International Game Conference (OIGC) showcases the innovations and emerging trends in the Ottawa and Canadian gaming industry.

The Second Annual OIGC is set to take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 - Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Ottawa Convention Centre. Founded by a consortium of game studios in 2012, the Second Annual OIGC will bring together the geek developers, whisky drinking business types, and artsy creative’s. Keynote speakers will blow minds, dynamic panels may turn into shouting matches, exhibitors will give away tons of SWAG, and the parties are going to make us wish handheld cameras were never invented.

OIGC 2013 is a must-attend event for game developers, artists, students, industry recruiters, and the players who live, eat and breath everything game-related. OIGC 2013…Let the games begin!

That was Chen's focus. Business sector. As long as they can start turning a significant profit, BlackBerry can comeback as a big marketshare player again.
