Great Scott! Can you imagine BB10 driving your car? No? Then take a look at the video above. RIM's QNX recently announced being honored at the upcoming CES for their work on their HTML 5 based QNX CAR 2 infotainment system. This future may not be as far off as you may think, as the technology displayed in this video already exists. In this concept video you can clearly see a Dev Alpha A displayed at 0:18, seamlessly displaying information of upcoming appointments on the car's dashboard. Driving directions can and on the fly translation can be powered by the Wikitude augmented reality browser. The HUD display on the windshield could be powered by Samsung's smart glass, showcased at CES just last January.
And Google has been known to have successfully trekked thousands of miles in California roads with their self driving cars. For crying aloud! Cars can park themselves today!
It really makes me excited to see what else RIM/QNX will bring to the table in the years to come.
