My home country of Ecuador will become the first South American nation to launch BlackBerry 10 when it arrives in the next couple of weeks. For now, the two biggest carriers, Movistar and Claro, have let their customers via their online sites and Facebook pages that the Z10 is now available for pre-order.
In Ecuador, details are usually not shared online, and as such, customers are encouraged to visit their local retailers to sign up and find out more information. We have been told that the Z10 will be $369 on contract on Claro's network (with an off-contract price of $699). The same can be expected from Movistar.
Claro has the exclusivity on the white Z10, while Movistar will only carry the black. Ecuador has traditionally been a huge BlackBerry supporter. Older BlackBerry smartphones are valued incredibly high to this day, so it'll be interesting to see how BlackBerry 10 does in that emergin market.
If you're in Ecuador, drop us a line and let us know if you'll be picking up the new Z10 once it launches!
