• Devs: You Can Now Reload Your BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha OS

Since the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha has hit the hands of developers, there has been a number of issues that has rendered the devices partially or fully unusable. The main issues have been Android Player not working, camera app missing, or a bricked device as a result of wiping.

Now, with the help of the Beta Zone, you can update to the latest version of Desktop Software and reload your Dev Alpha's software to OS 10.0.4.187. If you received your device at BB10Jam in Orlando you were running OS 10.0.4.197, which means it will be a bit of a downgrade. However, I got my Dev Alpha from Orlando and haven't noticed anything different between the two operating systems. In fact, so far 10.0.4.187 seems a bit more stable.

This software reload should be able to hold developers off until we get the recently announced update that will most likely add new features and coincide with the new BlackBerry 10 Developer SDKs. Rumors have it that we will see the update launch this Thursday, along side the BlackBerry 10 dev webcasts.

So get your Dev Alpha ready to go, and be sure to let us know in the comments if you are having any issues with re-loading your OS.

Update: Looks as though OS 10.0.4.197 will be installed regardless of what the Desktop Software says.
