New York-based design studio Michael McHale Designs has started a "limited series of chandeliers made out of Crackberries." The idea behind the chandelier series is to collect "discarded objects in order to make something beautiful." And that's where I'm not sure whether this is cool or a bit insulting.
If this is just a cool way to recycle some unused tech, then I'm all for it. Tech waste, and disposal is becoming more and more of a problem these days, so anytime you can reuse something, that's pretty awesome.
All I'm saying is, I hope this design studio isn't trying to mock BlackBerry's declining popularity in the U.S. by making something like a chandelier from its devices.
McHale's chandeliers will range from a couple of hundred bucks to over $15,000, so I'm definitely interested in seeing how they vary. Would you be up for a BlackBerry chandelier in your home? Sound off in the comments!
