• Contact Management Service Gist Sunsets, Now Working on Bigger Things

    We all new it was love when on February 14, 2011 RIM acquired Contact management company Gist. Since then, the small company has been hard at work improving the way users access information about their contacts to improve relationships, communication and open the doors for better networking. Some of their hard work can be seen in the way PlayBook handles contacts and can show latest company news related to the contact as well as their latest activity on their social networks if you are connected to them.

    Unfortunately for users of their website and mobile apps, Gist is at the end of its rope, only to move on to bigger things. In a blog post at the company's site yesterday, they announced that they would no longer be accepting new users and Gist.com will cease to exist as of September 15th 2012. For current users however, they are providing support to move their data to different providers and even offered a special support page to hep with the transition.

    Although it is a sad moment seeing Gist go, the team, however will continue working for RIM. The decision to bring Gist to an end came after the team realized that their current obligations working on the native contacts app for the upcoming BB10 platform amongst other projects, including BBM, Facebook and Twitter apps. Coming from Gist, we can count on having an amazing experience learning more about the people we interact with on a daily basis. We bid Gist farewell and welcome with open arms whats just over the horizon with BB10 in the coming months.
