• Celebrate A Decade of BBM With This Free BBM Sticker Pack!

Tomorrow marks a milestone for BlackBerry. On August 1, 2005 BlackBerry launched v1.0 of BlackBerry Messenger, which was originally planned for release as a part of BES 4.1. Initially called QuickMessenger during development, Jeremy Kettle coined the term BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) during a meeting.

BlackBerry has compiled a great write-up over at Inside BlackBerry on the origins of BBM, as well as recapped some of the more memorable BBM moments.

In 2015 we’ve already had three major releases, and we’re not slowing down. I’ll have more to share soon about the next update to BBM, but in the meantime, let’s celebrate 10 years of keeping in touch, 10 years of making plans, 10 years of getting together, and 10 years of sharing moments with friends.
To celebrate, on August 1 2015 (the official 10 year anniversary of BBM), you can download the “Happy Birthday BBM” sticker pack in the BBM Store. The sticker pack will be available for free for one day only. Make sure to visit the BBM store and grab the sticker pack, because after August 1, it will go back to its regular price.

You can use this avatar as your BBM profile photo to celebrate the 10th anniversary of BBM.
