BlackBerry seems to be gearing up to do something it hasn't done in a while; marketing. Today BlackBerry took out full page ads in Canadian newspapers, such as the Globe and Mail. The ad declares, "Canadians Love A Great Comeback" and tugs at the pride of being a company from Canada and it's heritage. The ad touts BlackBerry's pride in providing the best in security and productivity and uses the upcoming BlackBerry Passport as it's showcase.
Another hint at what is coming down the pike marketing wise is a tweet from Miss Canada 2014 finalist, Nickta Jowhari about a BlackBerry commercial in the works. Seems, they're looking for talent to be in the commercial and one can hope that she gets the gig. Her tweet is also a peek into what looks to be an interesting year end and exciting 2015.
It is becoming cemented in fact that John Chen has indeed turned BlackBerry around. He seems to have pruned the management deadwood and brought BlackBerry to a thriving company again. The right man, the right company, the right tools.
So, what do you think of the ad? Is it too late or is it just the tip of the iceberg? Will we see any type of marketing in the USA or has BlackBerry given up on it's neighbor to the south? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
