In what appears to be movements to get all of their ducks in a row with the possible sale going forth, BlackBerry has settled their litigation issues with two of it's main antagonists, WiLAN and Kik Messenger.
WiLAN and BlackBerry had been pitted against each other in many patent infringement lawsuits over the past few years. It was announced today that WiLAN and BlackBerry have come to a total settlement on all of their patent litigation. BlackBerry will obtain a license for certain patents in Florida, ending all litigation in Florida. And all pending litigation in Texas will be dismissed.
Kik and BlackBerry have quietly settled their patent fight, reportedly last month. BlackBerry sued Kik Messenger for patent infringement on BBM. Kik is saying that the two have settled their differences although no details of exactly what came of the settlement have been made public at this time.
So, what do you make of this? Is this clearing the slate before a sale goes forth or is it a white flag from BlackBerry that has no fight left in it? Let us know in the comments below.
