It seems that BlackBerry has a hit on it's hands in India with the newly introduced BlackBerry Z3. The Foxconn built device was brought to India to help bolster BlackBerry's sales which have been slipping in recent years due to an influx of cheap Android handsets.
The BlackBerry Z3's pricing at launch was priced a good bit lower than previous devices at their launch times. Various stores in India did offer discounts on the Z3 with up to Rs 1000 off on the sale of the Z3. BlackBerry director of distribution in India, Sameer Bahtia confirmed the high sales of the BlackBerry Z3 when he told the Economic Times, "It is true that we have been almost stocked out (for Z3)," and that "BlackBerry had seen strong sales through the traditional retail store channel as well as online."
According to Univercell's founder Satish Babu, the Z3 has become the optional phone to upgrade to for BlackBerry Fans of the 8520 and young customers in the sub Rs 20,000 range.
