We reported earlier today that AT&T users were starting to finally receive the OS 10.1 update for BlackBerry Z10. It didn't take long till users were reporting back that they had received an error when trying to apply the over-the-air update (see screenshot above). Now some are stuck without the update and an error screen that won't go away. If you happen to see the update, be sure to cancel and do not update until you see us posting about a newer version.
Now, before you go blaming AT&T, BlackBerry is the one who pushed the update out. Sure AT&T does their own carrier testing, but ultimately this blame is to fall on BlackBerry for not only the late Z10 update, but because they are not holding AT&T to a closer scrutiny. These types of mistakes should not happen.
BlackBerry has went ahead and released an official statement about the situation:
“Earlier today BlackBerry OS 10.1 for the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone on AT&T was posted in error. We are working closely with AT&T to provide the official BlackBerry OS 10.1 update soon. If you are an AT&T customer with a BlackBerry Z10 smartphone and you received a software update notification please disregard.”
Here we are, almost one month has passed since we U.S. subscribers were promised OS 10.1 on our Z10 devices.
