The cuts keep coming in Waterloo as BlackBerry has laid off another 100 people. Tight times and a restructuring plan of the company have led to thousands of layoffs, including 250 people this past July.
A corporate spokesperson would not comment on the exact total number of people that have lost their jobs with BlackBerry but they did give a brief comment on the situation at the Waterloo HQ.
"As previously stated, we are in the second phase of our transformation plan and as such, this week’s employee reductions demonstrates another step forward to scale our company correctly for new opportunities in mobile computing. Our evolution as a company is ongoing and is in no way easy, but we are realistic about what is required."
This does seem to fall in line with the reports that BlackBerry would be laying off 5,000 to 6,000 staffers in the midst of the company reorganization. Also, with the recent departures of three executives, it all points to a streamlined and new BlackBerry as an entity.
