• BlackBerry CEO on New Tablet: "It's On My Mind"

BlackBerry CEO John Chen once again teased the possibility of a new tablet during an interview with CNET at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Chen said he was looking at other equipment manufacturers to see what tablets they're working on, and talking to people internally. He wants to make sure that a BlackBerry tablet would stand out with an innovative design or new technology.

"I want it to be different. I want it to be iconic," Chen said. "Bringing a tablet out for a tablet's sake, it's not the right thing to do."

Chen didn't appear to be fazed by the unhappy history of BlackBerry's original tablet.

"We could always call it a PlayBook 2," he quipped.
As I've laid out here before, BlackBery already has the immediate solution to a tablet that compliments and is compatible with the current BlackBerry 10 phones, the PlayBook 4G.

We'll just have to wait and see whether the folks in Waterloo decide to turn on support to the PlayBook again until this second generation PlayBook style tablet comes to fruition.
