BlackBerry has submitted to the US District Court for the Northern District of California, a request for the court to block all sales of the Typo keyboard in the US. The request states that BlackBerry wishes the court to block Typo from "making, using, offering to sell, or selling within the United States, or importing into the United States, the Typo Keyboard.”
The court request also states that Typo's keyboard is a blatant copy of the BlackBerry keyboard and "presents an imminent threat of irreparable harm to BlackBerry, and that threat is magnified in combination with the significant market power of the iPhone.”
Typo and their financial partner Ryan Seacrest issued a statement that they "intend to defend the case vigorously" and "BlackBerry's case lack merit." BlackBerry contends that Typo's design infringes on two patent designs.
