• Blackberry Announces Healthcare Solution through CarePartners

Today at HIMSS, a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information technology, BlackBerry announced their home healthcare customer CarePartners has issued BlackBerry 10 smartphones provisioned with CellTrak’s VisitManager mobile healthcare management application to 4,000 employees in their mobile workforce, enabling them to securely access patient information, update client records in real-time, and help them manage their appointments and schedule changes throughout the day. CarePartners is also migrating to BES12 for enterprise mobility management (EMM) to securely manage their deployment of BlackBerry 10 smartphones.

This news is similar to to the implemented solution from Chatham-Kent Health Alliance using Oculys on their BlackBerry 10 smartphones to get immediate visibility into the flow of patients through their hospital and get updates from housekeeping staff in real-time on which beds are ready and available for patients. Since deploying the Oculys solution, Chatham-Kent’s wait times for available beds have dropped by 50 percent.

Also, Revera Home Health deployed a fleet of BlackBerry 10 smartphones pre-loaded with GoldCare’s MobilityPlus mobile healthcare management application across its home care division, giving their care providers convenient and secure access to patient information and a more efficient way to track the more than four million hours of services rendered to their clients annually.

BlackBerry and their partners continue to innovate in the healthcare space. Is this part of John Chen's plan to provide services to multiple platforms and areas? It seems like a step in that direction with the added benefit of actually using Blackberry devices too. Well played, Blackberry. Well played.
