• BlackBerry announced that Carl Wiese as Head of Global Sales on Monday

    Replacing John Sims, BlackBerry announced on Monday that Carl Wiese will be head of global sales. He will be responsible for driving BlackBerry's go-to-market strategy.


    Formerly the President of SAP’s Mobile Services business, Sims was the head of global sales for only eight months before leaving BlackBerry. He was originally hired on as part of John Chen's rescue team to be the president of Global Enterprise Services. Sims has been in the technology sector for more than 30 years and worked with John Chen for almost 12 of them.


    Carl Wiese has 30+ years experience in sales, marketing, services, and product management with companies such as Cisco, Avaya, Lucent, and Apple and has a successful track record of building large global businesses.

    For just over six years as Senior VP of Global Collaberation Sales at Cisco, Carl Wiese was responsible for leading more than 1500 salespeople and achieved the number one market position for every key market segment. Before that, he was the vice president of advanced technology sales for just under seven years where he led a team of 800 salespeople and established a go-to-market model that made Cisco's advanced technology capture the number one market share position.

    He's also a published author. Released in January of 2012, Carl Wiese found the time to co-author The Collaboration Imperative: Executive Strategies for Unlocking Your Organization’s True Potential.

    On the outside looking in, Carl Wiese has a daunting job to sell BlackBerry products and services to a consumer world that has given up on BlackBerry. But enterprise clients slowly waking up from Snowden leaks, Sony hackers, and international phone hacking incidents, this could be his time to shine. After all, there is nowhere else to go but up for BlackBerry.
