Are you looking to get the most out of the Calendar on your BlackBerry Passport? Ty from the Inside BlackBerry Help blog has written up a great article with some awesomet tips that can help you in staying on top of everything easily and getting the most out of your Calendar experience. Thanks Ty for your contribution to #TeamBlackBerry!
Introduced in BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3, Meeting Mode can automatically silence incoming notifications during the meetings you have scheduled in the Calendar app. When meetings end, your notifications automatically return to your normal settings which means you don’t have to worry about your device interrupting your boss during a meeting.
To try out this feature complete the following steps:
In the Calendar app, swipe down from the top of the screen.
- Tap Settings followed by Meeting Mode
- Toggle the Meeting Mode switch
- Within During meetings set my phone to select one of the following options:
- Phone Calls Only
- Vibrate Only
- All Alerts Off
Note: Meeting Mode only silences notifications during meetings that are accepted. Notifications are not silenced during meetings that are tentatively accepted or have the Show time as feature set to Free.
Subscribe to a public calendar (ICS)
Did you know that you can subscribe to an iCalShare (ICS) calendar?
I use this to add schedules from my favorite teams so I always know when they are playing
- On the home screen swipe down from the top of the screen
- Tap Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Subscribed Calendar
- In the Calendar Name field, enter a name for the calendar
- In the Server Address field, enter the address of the public calendar in ICS format
- For example, http://server/calendar.ics
- Tap Done
Share a file with meeting participants
Sharing files with people you are meeting with couldn’t easier on BlackBerry 10!
Just tap and hold a file you’d like to share, for example a Docs To Go file or a picture, tap the Share icon followed by Meeting Participants. After doing this, select the meeting for which you’d like to share this file, compose a brief message and tap Send.
Quick and easy, the way it should be

Hide a Calendar
Depending on which services you have set up on your device you may want to hide a calendar so it no longer appears within the Calendar app and the lock screen. For example, one of my email providers includes several calendars that contain holidays for various countries that I want to see on my computer, but I don’t want to see them on my device.
- In the Calendar app, swipe down from the top of the screen
- Tap Manage and clear the check box beside the calendar that you want to hide
Bonus – Quickly create meetings from the BlackBerry Hub
Whenever you are in the BlackBerry Hub and someone in an email thread asks to schedule a meeting, all you need to do is tap message followed by Invite To Meeting. When you do this, your invitation will be populated with the subject line from the email and the recipients of the email become the invitees.
