Yesterday, the BlackBerry Beta Zone sent out an email to its members notifying them of a future change with how they will log-in to the site.
"What changes are coming?
We are pleased to announce that we will be integrating BlackBerry Beta Zone with BlackBerry ID (BBID) to create a more streamlined login experience for you. If you do not currently have a BlackBerry ID, not a problem, you can simply create one here!
How is my current account affected?
Upon logging in to BlackBerry Beta Zone with your BlackBerry ID, you will have the opportunity to link all of your existing BlackBerry Beta Zone programs and profile information in one simple step.
If you have a verified BlackBerry ID username that matches your Beta Zone username, then you will have nothing to worry about – account linking will be seamless and you will have access to your existing profile right away!
When are these changes taking place?
The BlackBerry Beta Zone login changes will take place in the coming weeks, and we will notify you once the changes have been implemented."
This small change could indicate bigger and better things coming to the Beta Zone in the near future for our PlayBooks.
As PlayBook users, we can only add apps to our tablet through either App World or by sideloading them using our PC. Right now, all beta apps must be downloaded through the Beta Zone's site over the air, which makes PlayBook beta apps impossible.
By linking one's Beta Zone credentials to their BBID, they will be able to push beta apps to the user through App World instead. PlayBooks, and BB10 device in the future, would then be able to download these beta apps as well.
If you're not a member of the Beta Zone already and would like to join, go here
and if you don't have a BlackBerry ID either, go here.
