This How-To was written by guest writer, Jason, from the official BlackBerry Blog website. Thanks Jason!...

It’s hard for any of us to imagine our beloved BlackBerry smartphone being left in a taxi or getting stolen, but the truth is stuff happens – we misplace things, we accidentally leave behind a bag, or worse. If you’re on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the data on your BlackBerry smartphone is backed up by your IT administrator, but what about the rest of us? We want all of you to know that the important (and sometimes sentimental) data such as contacts, calendars, tasks, memos, text messages and browser bookmarks from your missing device can be recovered easily as long as you have BlackBerry Protect set up completely and correctly.

How To Sideload Android Apps On The BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0

The release of PlayBook 2.0 brought so many new features to the PlayBook. Perhaps one of its best features is its ability to run Android apps. This is a feature that many have been waiting a long time for. Unfortunately many of these apps have not made it into BlackBerry App World yet. This could be for many reasons, part of the issue is the amount of time it takes to get an app approved. RIM is notorious for a lengthy app approving process.

In the meantime, there is another way to get all of these nice apps on to your PlayBook. This method is called "sideloading". It requires Android apps that have been properly converted from their native .APK files to .BAR files; to be sideloaded using a third party tool.

Camera View Location And Pinch To Zoom In PlayBook Video Chat

So my fellow blogger and good friend robyntheginger and I were testing out the new video chat app in the PlayBook OS 2.0 today and we found a couple of goodies that needed to be shared.

Camera view location. We saw that upon pressing on our own camera view and dragging it, we could actually move the location/position of it to any of the four corners of the screen. You do this by simply dragging the view up, down, right, left or even diagonally across the screen. I personally thought that was pretty awesome and a nice little Easter egg that was left for us die-hard BlackBerry users to find.

[So apparently this isn't new in 2.0 but I still didn't know it was possible] > Pinch to zoom. There's also another little bit of interaction we can have with our own camera views: Pinch to zoom. Pinching in anywhere on the screen will make the view smaller, while pinching out will increase the size of it instead. Some people are a little shy when it comes to seeing themselves on camera or simply want a bigger view of what the other is seeing. In these cases, the pinch to zoom camera view definitely helps.

As we dig into OS 2.0 more in the next few days/weeks, I'm sure we'll find more and more things to share with you guys. I do wonder what the next little Easter egg will be.

How To Setup Print To Go In BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0

Print To Go is a new feature introduced in BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2, which allows you to “print” documents from your computer to your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. Instead of outputting to a printer, documents are conveniently converted to Adobe PDF files and wirelessly transported to your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet where you can easily manage and organize them. You can use Print To Go to “print” any file – including documents, webpages, diagrams and more.

Here’s a tutorial of how to get started and setup with Print To Go...

With the current leaked OS 7.1 releases we've been able to gain access to some pretty cool new features. One of those features is that you can now stream files straight from your BlackBerry device via Wi-Fi (Media Server) wireless connection.

RIM has been working together with (DLNA) Digital Living Network Alliance , through their dedicated hard work to make this feature available to BlackBerry OS 7.1 devices. It has been verified that this feature works, and is now available for the BlackBerry Bold, Torch, and Curve devices, with other OS 7.1 devices to follow.

I have compiled several pictures from my BlackBerry Bold 9900 into a tutorial to show everyone how to stream media successfully on their BlackBerry device. Let's get started!

One thing I dread is that horrible little black clock that randomly pops up on my BlackBerry screen, the sign that I'm pushing the limits on my poor BlackBerry Bold 9900. Sometimes, it goes away immediately, other times takes about a minute, but on one disastrous occasion, I had to completely restart my BlackBerry to get it working again. With the help of AgentBlackBerry, we've come up with a list of solutions to hopefully either fix the issue of your BlackBerry lagging or prevent it from ever becoming a problem in the first place. By enacting these few simple steps, you are guaranteed to have an even better BlackBerry experience.

Once again a new emulator has been ported to the BlackBerry PlayBook. This one is called Snes9x, and thanks to project leader A7omic and jtokarchuk we can now play Super Nintendo games on the PlayBook. The nice thing about this emulator is that it runs on PlayBook OS version 1.0 and does not require any fancy hacking. All that is needed is that you side-load it using your favorite side-loading application.

By now every theme developer knows the frustration of not being able to build themes for OS 7 devices. Although RIM has mentioned the reason for the delay in releasing theme builder 7, it has not kept people from creating their own through workarounds and hacks. There have been a few OS 7 themes that have come out recently that are clean and simple, but the pressure to create more robust and complete themes is mounting.

It seems as though RIM has listened to the cries of consumers who want to add a fresh touch to their OS 7 device, and has released some instructions on how to use Theme Studio 6 to build themes for BlackBerry 7 devices.
