For busy dads and hard-working grads, RIM offers a complete selection of mobile tools to help them be more productive and have fun too. This season’s ultimate portable companions feature wireless music streaming, a multi-tasking tablet and numerous apps to boost productivity.

    BlackBerry Music Gateway
With the BlackBerry Music Gateway, music loving dads and grads can wirelessly stream tunes to their home or car stereo from a BlackBerry smartphone, BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or a Bluetooth enabled device with a simple tap to their NFC enabled BlackBerry or pairing via Bluetooth connectivity. They can sync their personal music library, purchase albums and songs from the BlackBerry Music Store or stream music from the many BlackBerry App World music apps like BBM Music, Pandora or Slacker, for a rich multimedia experience. Once connected to the BlackBerry Music Gateway, they can control their selections from up to 30 feet away from the stereo, without missing a beat. The BlackBerry Music Gateway begins shipping in June and will be available on www.shopblackberry.com for US$49.99.

    BlackBerry PlayBook

The slim, sleek and ultra-portable BlackBerry PlayBook tablet fits in a jacket pocket and is powerful enough for the next adventure - whether keeping up with post-grad coursework, a new job or busy travel schedule. Equipped with enhanced communication tools built in, including calendar, contacts and messages, dads and grads will always be at the head of the class. The PlayBook's high-performance multi-tasking capabilities make it easy to watch a movie, play a game, browse the web and stay on top of email all at the same time.

The PlayBook’s ever-expanding app library offers many apps perfect for busy dads and grads like Evernote, which synchronizes notes, ideas and more from a BlackBerry to the Web or computer desktop; and Blaq for the ultimate Twitter experience. Your favorite dad or grad can also enjoy out of this world fun on the PlayBook with Angry Birds Space and the adventurous Machinerium.

    BlackBerry Apps
The latest BlackBerry 7 smartphones help dads and grads get more done in less time. Apps like BlackBerry Traffic ensure they’re not late for a job interview or family dinner by providing an estimated time of arrival, alternate routes and stress-free navigation. And when they're too busy to call, the newly updated BBM quickly shares voice notes, messages, pictures and status updates, with the added benefit of knowing when the message was read. Not sure which app they need most? The mobile gifting platform allows BlackBerry users to gift apps to each other through BBM.

That's right folks. The official BlackBerryOS.com (BeBeOS) app for BlackBerry PlayBook has now been approved and is ready for you to download via BlackBerry App World! We reported a couple weeks ago that we had just submitted the app, and now today the day has finally come. However, instead of being called simply the BBOS or BlackBerryOS app, due to App World guidelines, we had to call it the BeBeOS app in the store. Close enough.

So don't wait, get it downloaded today and keep up on what's new from the REAL #1 BlackBerry fan site out there!

Move over LocalBar, BBHTool, and DDPB the next biggest PlayBook utility has just arrived. Enter PlayBook App Manager, a new gem in the PlayBook management utility software department. Designed by George J this web manager will take complete control over your PlayBook apps, and much more. Easy to install, and implement the PlayBook App Manager has taken over the throne as the ultimate PlayBook utility.

I could not have been more excited to see a web-based application that is robust yet so simple. My hats off to the developers behind
PlayBook App Manager. So without further ado, lets jump into some details about PlayBook App Manager.

The PlayBook App Manager can do many things, and although its primary purpose is add and remove programs from your PlayBook it can also do things like terminate processes. Yes, even Android processes. Now we finally have an Android Kill Switch! In addition things like multiple installs, device information, and application information as available as well.

The PlayBook App Manager is a simple Chrome and Monzilla extension that integrates seamlessly with either browser. All you have to do is enter your PlayBook's ip something like a 192.168.x.x if your PlayBook is on your local LAN or 169.0.x.x if its plugged in via USB. In short you can manage your device over wifi or via USB.

Some of the main features include:
    Main Features

    1. Save your password in the browser for auto login (or not if you choose not to). Some tricks are done to save half of usual login time.
    2. List all the apps installed. Query run status, launch, terminate, or uninstall any individual app.
    3. Install apps by a queue. Multiple apps may be added to the queue by choosing files in a dialog or a simple drag and drop. Apps may be removed from the queue and installation may be aborted. Installation status is displayed in two steps: file uploading (to the playbook) with a progress bar and the actual installation with echoed messages.
    4. Auto retry for any incomplete installation or uninstallation.
    5. Log and categorize all the results of installations. Locate each one of them by a simple click.

I do not want to diminish usefulness of the other PlayBook utilities, but this one takes the cake. Make sure you check out the PlayBook App Manager main website at Playbook App Manager . Thanks for the guys over at OSBB for finding this gem. Make sure you keep it right here for some more surprises.

One of the things many of us have complained about the PlayBook is the lack of media editing capabilities, with video, pictures; etc. Research In Motion recently purchased a company called J-cut and have apparently been putting them to work.

Pictured above is the video editing software that will be coming to BlackBerry 10 smartphones and the PlayBook as well. Not much can be gathered from one specific slide but it's great knowing that all of these acquisitions that RIM has made are being put to great use.

During the BlackBerry World party at Universal Studios, we posted some of the first shots of the night as we saw a live demo of the upcoming Pacemaker DJ music creating app. During that same night, our guest dev writer, Corran from c2dev.org, recorded a great video of the live event from his own PlayBook! It's the best video I've seen from the event so far from an attendee. We are super exited for the release of this app into the the coming month or so, how about you? Let us know what you think of the app in action!

The 4G BlackBerry PlayBook will come to a reality later on this year. RIM's CEO Thorsten Heins has confirmed that a 4G version will be coming by the end of the year. Early specs on the devices suggest that it will have a 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor, and NFC, other than that it is said to be pretty similar to the current PlayBook. RIM has also confirmed that they are working on a 10-inch PlayBook as well, which leaves one wondering if we may see a 10-inch LTE device by the end of the year.

No matter what the specs are, it still leaves some wondering how well consumers will perceive the new device. It was over a year ago that RIM first launched the PlayBook, and it is no secret how well that went. So will consumers give the PlayBook 4G another go? Will businesses embrace it with open arms? Only time will tell, but having a constant 4G connection on a superior device is pretty awesome!

I could not have been more exited to see a classic video game character once again come back to life. Lara Croft has been the face of the popular Tomb Raider series and has been the bad girl of video game characters since 1996. If your like me then you probably grew up playing this game on the PC. This time Lara makes her makes her way to the BlackBerry PlayBook, in the title called The Guardian Of Light.

Last week, we received an updated PlayBook OS (2.0.1.358), and with a bit of investigative work we discovered that RIM had updated their preloaded/default apps for PlayBook. Zinio, a premier app for magazines now comes preloaded on PlayBook. Since it's release in mid-March, Zinio has grown exponentially in it's amount of users. It's great to see RIM creating this lasting partnership with Zinio.

Zinio is the premier app for magazines, giving readers immediate access to thousands of global titles. Read and download single issues or subscriptions of your favorite magazines and sync your library to your home computer, smart phone and tablet seamlessly. Keep up with trending topics and stories from magazines like Rolling Stone, The Economist, Hello!, US Weekly, T3, Macworld, Travel + Leisure and many more.

As a lover of music and mixing songs, I've been looking for a good DJing app on the PlayBook for quite some time. The latest app to show its prowess in App World is DJStudio. This Android ported app runs fairly well on the PlayBook and the fact that it's free makes it look even better.

In all fairness, it doesn't have the sexiest UI and has a lot of room for improvement but it definitely does what you download it for. Mixing on it is a breeze and the beat matching features works spot on.

I hope the developers of the app, Beatronik, make a couple of main UI changes, in order to make the console controls, beat bar, and other parts bigger/easier to click. Once those changes take effect, this could be the best DJing app on the PlayBook. Until then though, DJPad will still be #1 in my book.

We all remember the Nintendo Emulator for PlayBook that was released awhile back ago in which users were able to play old school NES games. Now, BB user Catalystg has released a PlayStation 1 Emulator for PlayBook! Now you can play some old school Tekken, GTA, Tony Hawk, ect. Also, BBOS member RDilus has shared a video demo in our forums he made playing Tekken and Rayman2. This PS1 emulator looks to be running rather smooth in the video, which is to no surprise as the PB is a game running machine. Head to the forums to see the video demo and be sure to leave us a comment if you install the emulator on your tablet!
