Call it a freak of nature, on purpose, or a RIM slip-up, as BBOS member eKoKnight has just posted a screenshot in our forums of a new "Verizon Wireless Store" category showing up in PlayBook's App World. I can also verify the category myself on my tablet, and nothing but a empty loading screen is all I get from it. Could this be the prepping of a 4G data enabled tablet from Verizon? Time for Verizon native and approved apps for the PlayBook? PlayBook Skype for Verizon subscribers!

The days of sideloading Android apps may soon be coming to a close. We have heard some mention about this before, but nothing was confirmed. However, some recent twitter comments sprung to life by N4BB may have done just that. In a response to another twitter users question regarding the removal of sideloading RIM's VP Developer Relations Alec Saunders stated that RIM was "removing sideloading for consumers."

This may come to no surprise to some, but for many consumers the decision by RIM wont be embraced with open arms. The ability to run Android applications on the PlayBook has been a reason that many consumers purchase a PlayBook. The ability to sideload Android apps has further influenced many consumers decision to purchase the PlayBook, and may have an adverse effect on some consumers. The amount of Android apps that can be run on the PlayBook is still rather limited in quantity, but we have seen a steady growth as more developers are ported their apps over to the Playbook.

As an advocate of sideloading apps I was a little disappointed to hear this, but I understand why. The underlying reason for RIM's removal of the sideloading is to help reduce the amount of pirated apps. Piracy is something that has plagued the Android Market place for quite some time and frankly, any app market that's out there. Although sideloading apps on the PlayBook may make the PlayBook a little more appealing to some, others like developers may be wondering how soon it is before their app is pirated.

Unfortunately those that abuse sideloading and use it to load pirated apps, have been the contributing factor for this decision. It will be interesting to see how the community responds to this decision as sidelaoding has become the norm to install Android apps.

We have know for a while that RIM has been working on another version of the PlayBook, and that it would have 3G and 4G capabilities. Now more visual information has leaked regarding the 4G device. A user over at the crackberry forums recently released some pictures of what he claims is a PlayBook 4G device.

We already know that with any leaked pictures a little skepticism is always there. You can see from the picture above that it shows where the SIM card would be placed. It may seem like a convenient location, but I can see some potential issues with cramming too much stuff in the loading area. Perhaps someplace on the sides may be a better fit.

Did you know that misspelling a product for sell on eBay can affect how well the item can be found by potential buyers? This ultimately can result in the auction item not getting the recognition it needs to start a bidding war. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to find those misspelled hard to find items on eBay so that you could be the one to get in on that great auction price? Well, with a new PlayBook app by C2Development, you can do just that! Fat Fingers for PlayBook is a powerhouse eBay search engine that finds those misspelled apps allowing you to get in on those deals that no else can find.

Having already tried the app out, within my first couple of searches I found a misspelled item with no bidders. As you can see from the screenshot below that when I typed in "BlackBerry PlayBook" the search engine cleverly found a misspelled entry, "BalckBerry PlayBook." BTW, those interested in a deal on a new PlayBook may want to take notes.

Overall Fat Fingers runs very smooth, fast, and the interface is easy to navigate on. There is even a feature that takes you directly to eBay if you would like to explore more about your searched items. And for only $1.99, an app that can save you literally hundreds of dollars, I'd say that it's a useful bargain.

Be sure to follow the guys of C2Development on Twitter for the latest, and be sure to let us know in the comments if Fat Fingers scores you a eBay deal!

Rubicon Mobile has just released Great Little War Game for the PlayBook. This awesome game combines some sick graphics with some pretty interactive and addicting gameplay. You can either play solo or with others which makes this game that much more fun.

Like the description in App World says, "it's one of the best strategy games ever made." In my opinion, it is well worth the price tag of $4.99 as I have yet to put it down since I bought it and probably wont for the rest of the night. My favorite feature from the description: "Absolutely no birds or zombies."

    Official Description:

    Core Features:

    • Campaign mode
    • Multiplayer mode
    • Skirmish mode
    • Achievements
    • Four difficulty settings
    • Lush visuals
    • Full 3D terrain affects gameplay
    • Simple control method
    • Lots of units
    • Lots of terrain types
    • High replayability
    • Tons of humour
    • Absolutely no birds or zombies

Take command of your army and battle the foe on land, sea and air but be sure to make wise decisions as you go. You want to deploy your soldiers to take full advantage of the higher terrain, natural choke points, ambush spots and defensive walls. Get it right and the bad guys will lose to your superior strategy skills.

Okay so this is gonna sound ridiculous, but this game is both incredibly beautiful visually and ridiculously simple all the same exact time. TunnelTilt is a pretty awesome 3D WebGL game that consists of getting a little glowing ball passed all the obstacles in order to make it to the end. Simple right? Try it and you'll see.

I saw The Hunger Games on opening night (Friday) and it was awesome. I hadn't read the books at all but I decided to check out the movie anyways because it looked interesting. This was the first time though, that a movie was so good that it made me want to read the following books in order to see what happens next. Now, I know many people use devices to read books but I just never got into it. Whether it's a Kindle or a PlayBook, I never really thought I'd like it.

Well last night, I saw a little tip on Twitter about getting all three Hunger Games series books for $1.53/each when using Kobo Books and decided to try it to see if it worked. It did and now I have all three books on my PlayBook. Upon check out, simply enter the code hungergamesdeal3 (for the first book, "The Hunger Games"), hungergamesdeal4 (for the second book, "Catching Fire"), and hungergamesdeal5 (for the third book, "Mocking Jay"). So if you want the books, make sure you get them as soon as possible as this deal is only available till March 31st.
