Back in January we reported that the unofficial upcoming 9230/9220 specs were leaked online via a couple RIM presentation slides. It looks like today the Curve 9230 is one more step closer to becoming reality for BB users, as Rajat Agrawal of BGR.in goes hands on with the device and reports:

To begin with, the Curve 9320 feels just perfect – neither too tiny, nor too large. Though it is all plastic, it still felt good to hold and the quality of plastics used is much better than that found even on some high-end smartphones from Samsung. In all probability, there would be hardly any difference between the Curve 9220 and 9320 in terms of look and feel. The only difference being the camera and the absence of 3G in the 9220.

The 9320 also had a BBM shortcut button on the left edge, which is quite handy (you can notice the slight bump on the left edge just above the calling key). In all probability, RIM could offer some free BBM plans when it launches the devices in India. The phones will run on BlackBerry OS 7.1 that comes with deeper BBM integration, especially when it comes to third-party apps. Our source, who has been using the phone, says the battery easily lasts over a day on a 2G network with heavy calling. I’m told these phones will also have FM radio, though I was not able to check it during my brief hands-on.
The device is expected to be priced at about Rs 9,000 ($183), and it's 3G variant is expected to be right around Rs 12,000 ($244). Are you from India and consider getting one of these upcoming devices? Let us know!

According to Chitika, PlayBook users have been extremely active downloading the new OS 2.0 on their PlayBooks. The study shows that almost 44% of all users updated their OS in the first week alone. Interesting to note also, that the report suggests 75% of all PlayBook users will have upgraded to OS 2.0 in the 3 weeks time. Obviously, this is a great sign for BlackBerry and for all users that wanted all these new features on their tablet.

As a DJ (weekend job), this got me so excited that I literally said "yes!" out loud when I read this for the first time. Pacemaker was actually a portable DJing device that unfortunately ended up being discontinued after a lot of people thought it had a ton of potential. Well today, RIM and Pacemaker have announced an exclusive partnership to bring a Pacemaker DJing app to the PlayBook sometime in the Spring.

No details in terms of pricing or specific availability dates but it's definitely coming for sure. I'm ridiculously excited and you can bet we will be breaking down this app when it's available for all our pro to living room DJs out there.

RIM's new BlackBerry 10 devices should be rolling out sometime later this year, and there are still questions about how exactly is it going to integrate into existing enterprise BlackBerry infrastructure. Will organization Administrators still have the same type of awkward meeting they had with the introduction of the PlayBook? How will BB 10 devices fit in to a current BlackBerry infrastructure? These are all questions CIO's, IT Admin's, and BES Admins are all asking.

    BlackBerry Mobile Fusion

Some of these questions were answered by RIM's VP of Enterprise Product Management Alan Panezi. BlackBerry 10 devices will not work on existing versions of BES. So what does this mean? Is this another barrier that RIM has to overcome?

The answer is no. Enter BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, RIM's most advanced mobile administration solution to date. This is a game changer and what will set RIM miles apart from it's competitors. It is also what will mange BB 10 devices, and iOS and Android devices. This is a big deal among many organizations today, because they are plagued with many different mobile devices. With Mobile Fusion organizations can forget about the nightmare of trying to keep track of the array of mobile devices.

RIM currently has BlackBerry Mobile Fusion available as a 90 day trial, and it is a PlayBook only version. Why make the switch? Mobile device variety, it is here to stay and is not going anywhere. More CEO's and Executives want to have the mobile device of their choice and that does not always include a BlackBerry. This has created a huge issue for IT staff as they now have to figure out a way to maintain device accountability and security. Mobile Fusion will solve that issue. Security is another advantage, but there is no need to harp it because its clear that RIM will have that area covered.

    ActiveSync

PlayBook owners rejoiced with the release of PlayBook OS 2.0, as it provided them with the ability to connect with their company's Exchange Server using ActiveSync. ActiveSync will also be available on BB 10 devices, oh the joys of plug and play type setups. Organizations can breath a sigh of relief as, their BlackBerry users will now be able to sync their devices much like their Android and Apple colleagues.

ActiveSync also eliminates the need for a BES server. However, ease of use mean something has to be sacrificed in this case its security. Although ActiveSync provides an almost care free way of connecting BB 10 devices to an organization, it does leave a certain amount of exposure that some organizations may frown on. Once again, this is ware BlackBerry Mobile Fusion will come into play. Those organizations can simply use it to meet their security requirements.

Together ActiveSync and BlackBerry Mobile fusion will take the BB 10 devices to a new level of security and performance.

This is possibly one of the coolest things I have seen in a very long time and the best part about it is it's a BlackBerry exclusive. The above video is about a new app that The Astonishing Tribe has decided to show off at Mobile World Congress 2012 today. This app, which currently has no name, enables multiple PlayBooks to, in essence, be aware of each others locations when they are nearby and share files between them. A perfect idea for businesses, large and small alike. In this example, we can see how two PlayBook interact with one another and how even five of them can integrate together in a way.

The document sharing app enables its users to share by dragging and dropping files or simply "power swiping" them to an external display (like a projection screen; etc). The UI is gorgeous and the simplicity of this makes any BlackBerry user just so excited to know it's coming.

Moreover, we know that BlackBerry 10 will be heavily influenced by TAT UI design and when are shown what it is possible, one can only imagine what they aren't showing us. Simply amazing. Check out another video below.

By now you may have noticed that updates are flying out like hot cakes from BlackBerry App World. I know I'm exaggerating, but it seems as if every app, at least the most popular ones, are getting updated with many great improvements. Slacker Radio for PlayBook was added to this list of recently updated, bringing the app up to v1.1.50. If you aren't sure what Slacker Radio is, it's a personalized music brought right to your PlayBook. This includes, unlimited free music, over 140 expertly programmed stations by genre, information regarding the song you're listening to and even allows you to listen to music while using other apps!

As the popularity of RIM's BlackBerry App World begins to rise so does its relationship with mobile carriers. Today at mobile World Congress RIM announced that more carriers were deploying integrated billing for BlackBerry App World, to help ensure a smooth relationship between customers, carriers, and developers.

BlackBerry App World has grown significantly over the past few months and is now has over 600,000 apps and 174 million apps downloaded per month. In addition there have been over 2 Billion downloads since its initial release. These numbers, and additional research helped contribute to carriers deploying an easy payment system.

The deployment of integrated carrier billing makes sense for everyone, most importantly the developer that wants to get paid in a timely fashion. It also allows the user to purchase apps, by simply charging it to their regular monthly bill. Currently one-time and subscription-based purchases are supported.

The following carriers are offering integrated billing on BlackBerry App World:
    • A1 Telekom (Austria)
    • AT&T (United States)
    • Bell (Canada)
    • Digicel (25 markets in the Caribbean and Latin America)
    • Indosat (Indonesia)
    • Rogers Wireless (Canada)
    • SFR (France)
    • Telefonica (UK)
    • T-Mobile (United States)
    • Telus (Canada)
    • Telstra (Australia)
    • Vodafone (Spain, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, United Kingdom & Netherlands)
