Even though we already shared what could be the easiest step-by-step Valentine’s Day Master Guide, we know some … errr most… men like to procrastinate. For your readers who didn’t take us up on the “One Week Until Valentine’s Day Plan,” RIM has pulled together a plan that’ll have you on your way to a perfect Valentine’s Day in 24 hours or less.

    RIM's Step-by-Step Plan for 24 hours out:
You may be pushing it, but with 24 hours to the big night, we’ve still got you covered.

Free Junk Call Blocker For BlackBerry - Keep Your Phone Junk Call Free!

We all know the annoyance of getting junk calls. They come at the most impossible times, and getting rid of them seems almost impossible! S4BB Limited recently released a FREE app that keeps your BlackBerry Smartphone junk call free; Junk Call Blocker. Inspired by the success of the Hong Kong version, they've built a free global version of this handy application. Junk Call Blocker recognizes and blocks incoming junk calls automatically. Besides the existing black list, there's also a custom blacklist allowing you to block custom numbers. Ideal when you're dealing with a stalking ex! The other way around, there's also a white list, in case a call gets unjustified marked as a junk call.

Junk Call Blocker comes in three versions. The free version allows you to add 10 numbers to the custom blacklist. If you need to add more numbers, you can upgrade to the Standard version (100 numbers) or the Pro Version (unlimited numbers) via in-app-purchase.

Junk Call Blocker is a BBM connected application and compatible with devices running BlackBerry OS 6.0 or higher, including all BlackBerry OS 7 devices. You can get Junk Call Blocker for free here:

Apps, apps, and more apps have been leaked today. The Beta Zone has been such a dead area recently that we'll have to deal with these small updates for now. Updates to Facebook, BBM, Social Feeds, and Docs2Go have been leaked this evening by @jelounge.

Keep in mind, these apps are NOT official versions released by RIM and are only meant for OS 7 devices for the time being. As unofficial versions, download them only if you are comfortable doing so, knowing they could potentially mess up your device like any other leaked application.

During this morning's keynote at DevCon Europe, Vivek Bhardwaj, Head of Software Portfolio EMEA at RIM, attempted to show off the "open on" feature of BlackBerry Bridge 2.0 and unfortunately the "demo gremlins" did not allow it to work fully. After the keynote, BlackBerryDevCon's official YouTube channel uploaded the above video showing off the feature and how it's suppose to work. Honestly, it's one of my favorite new features of 2.0 since it is one of those "wow" features. Make sure you check out the video above for a demo of this new aspect of BlackBerry Bridge 2.0.

Once again a new emulator has been ported to the BlackBerry PlayBook. This one is called Snes9x, and thanks to project leader A7omic and jtokarchuk we can now play Super Nintendo games on the PlayBook. The nice thing about this emulator is that it runs on PlayBook OS version 1.0 and does not require any fancy hacking. All that is needed is that you side-load it using your favorite side-loading application.

Write Code Directly From Your BlackBerry PlayBook With Compilr

The team behind Compilr has built an app that enables developers to write code directly from a BlackBerry PlayBook. The idea behind Compilr was to remove all the hassles around development, and the easiest way to do that was to push the experience to the web, removing almost all friction for developers!

Since it's launch, Compilr has grown to over 80,000 users and the BlackBerry community has responded very well to the PlayBook release with over 1,000 downloads and counting! Be sure to follow @Compilr on Twitter for all the latest happenings.

[Update] RIM Offering Free PlayBook To Any Developers For App Submission Before Feb 13th, 2012

[UPDATE 2/3/2012 4:00PM] Apparently the BlackBerry community's response to this original offer was huge. So huge in fact that RIM is now extending this offer to "any app – WebWorks, Native, AIR, and Android. Same deadline of February 13 applies."

    ------------------------------------------------------

There is huge buzz surrounding the release of OS 2.0 for the BlackBerry PlayBook. With the possible release date a little over two weeks away, RIM is doing everything it can to get as many Android apps as possible ready for the new OS launch. Today, the Inside BlackBerry Blog posted a new promotion for Android app developers:

The plan is to provide one free 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook to every registered BlackBerry App World vendor who converts their Android app for use on the BlackBerry PlayBook and submits it to BlackBerry App World between February 2, 2012 and February 13, 2012.
More details about the promotion will be posted on the Inside BlackBerry Blog as soon as possible but for now that stands to be a pretty awesome promotion for Android app developers. We're hopeful this creates a nice wave of developers that if, for no other reason, will port their apps over to App World to get a free tablet.

This is a pretty smart idea on RIM's part. With the recent low prices of the PlayBook, odds are most people are opting to go for a higher capacity tablet (32GB and 64GB), leaving RIM with a lot of 16GB tablets lying around. Giving these away in exchange for something, like Android apps in App World, will only help the momentum of the OS 2.0 launch. Smart move RIM, smart move indeed.

I'm a true believer in keeping things simple. When I started using my Bold 9900, I left my iPod Classic to collect dust at home. I could easily sync my current music library through Desktop Manager, but really didn't feel like having to export purchased songs from iTunes.

When BlackBerry Music Store was released in Beta Zone, i fell in love with it. It became my music purchase option of choice. Powered by 7Digital, this app gives me access to the same music locker between both my BlackBerry Bold 9900 & my PlayBook (BlackBerry Music on the PlayBook is also powered by 7Digital).

The application is currently only available in Australia & Canada.

    Features Include:

    • Browse the catalog by what’s new, top songs, top albums and genres
    • Store your music in the cloud via your 7Digital Music Locker easy portability across devices
    • Preview a 30-second sample before buying
    • Download over the wireless network or Wi-Fi®
    • Let friends know what you’re checking out via BlackBerry Messenger, Email, Text Messaging, Socials Feeds, Facebook and more...

We have been seeing quite a few BBM connected apps over the past few months, and many have been wondering when we would see some native apps like RIM's Facebook and Twitter become BBM connected. Well, it looks as though we may be seeing this feature pretty soon.

So if you were wondering when you would see these apps integrated within your BBM, wonder no more, because RIM is working on it. The days of boring status updates on BBM may be over.
