MLB.com At Bat 12 Now Available For BlackBerry

The app that many thought wasn't going to make it to BlackBerry smartphones, now officially has. The MLB At Bat 12 app is now available to BlackBerry smartphone users. If you are a die hard baseball fan, you will know how great of an app this is. The pricey tag of $14.99 might turn some users off, but others find it well worth it. The app is only available for BlackBerry smartphones right now, which means no love for the PlayBook yet. That's definitely surprising to me at least. I, for one, happen to prefer to buy apps on the PlayBook over my BlackBerry. Hopefully we'll see a nice PlayBook version in the future.

BBM Music v1.2 Released In Beta Zone - Brings Availability To UK

After many BlackBerry users in the UK were disappointed to find that BBM Music v1.1 would not be available to them, many (okay, all) will be happy to know that with the v1.2 upgrade, BBM Music will add availability to Beta Zone members in the UK. Another perk of this update would be that the BBM Music has gotten a face lift! These are the features you'll find in the updated beta app:

Invitation requests - view songs and friends in common before accepting or declining a request
"Favorite" songs and contacts - let everyone know which songs and people you enjoy most
Intelligent shuffle - shuffle songs based on songs, genre, artist, song popularity, album, contact, release year or recently added
Default friend - new users will have a default friend listed under their contacts
Applications enhancements - current users will notice notification, start up performance, and accessing account information improvement

For now v1.2 is only an eligible program in Beta Zone (only for US, Canada, and UK users), but the fact that the beta app is now capable of use in the UK is a good sign that the official version following this one will inevitably bring many new UK users to the BBM Music world. If you're itching to try this beta app, just remember that you have to currently have a BBM Music subscription to actually use the app, if you don't, sign up today! With a pretty new look and the addition of my fellow BlackBerry users across the Atlantic, BBM Music gets even better as the days go on.

WordPress For BlackBerry v1.6 Beta Now Available

We reported last month that WordPress was working on update v1.6 for BlackBerry. Now, WordPress is allowing users to join in the public beta and download v1.6! This new version has a revisited UI and some great new features that trumps the previous v1.5. Let us know how this version works for you, and don't forget to leave some feedback!

Note: If you are using OS 7.1 you may get a "907 invalid COD" error if trying to download via OTA. To fix this, you may need to copy the jad and all cod files to your memory card, and then open jad from there in order to install. Thanks to Greg @alwaysaterrier for figuring this out.

Living deep in the heart of Texas, there's one thing that we can never plan for: the weather. Needless to say, dressing to accommodate the weather ...is impossible. And I'm not even exaggerating. Because of this, I am always needing to stay to date with the current weather situation. For example, I've been sitting in the library and had no idea that there was a tornado nearby. How nearby? I don't know yet. Good thing I have my trusty BeWeather app! It is by far the best weather app I have ever had the pleasure of downloading on my BlackBerry and I use it dozens of time a day on average.

My trusty BeWeather app was fortunately updated earlier today to v2.6.17 and includes a fix with issues regarding background auto-updates. Our good friend Kathryn Lahrs, from Lahrs Apps, just let us know about a new app she's been working on and has gotten into App World. Garble is a pretty cool message encrypting app that allows you to share your messages with friends and family in a cool secretive way.

Lemma For PlayBook Updated To v1.1.8

Lemma for PlayBook, one of the best free Twitter apps available to PlayBook owners via the BlackBerry App World at this time, was recently updated to version 1.1.8.

A while ago, the v1.1.2 update was released, but unfortunately if you did not already have Lemma for PlayBook installed, you weren’t able to download it, at least that was the conclusion that I had unfortunately come to. But now, that has changed! Personally, I am ecstatic. The initial Lemma for PlayBook app that came already uploaded on my PlayBook was, to put it lightly, subpar. I wasn't happy with it in the slightest. While the updates didn't bring everything I was hoping for, the improvements were still significant.

In v1.1.2:

New interface, including new colors, icons and less clutter
Scrolling improvements on the timeline
Smoother transition between pages
Compose Tweet/Reply With Message improvements
Added “View In App” functionality, powered by Readability v0.4.4 algorithm
New user tutorial to help grasp the unique style Lemma has to offer
