    Sideloading Question

Hello everybody I am new to BB Z10 as of today and really liking it so far. One reason I got it was because we can put android apps on the Z10. I have tried to sideload apps several times today after downloading the DDPB app from GoodeReader website before finding this website. I have tried several times of loading the app trying it, it not working and deleting the app. I have restarted my computer and phone several times. Every time I connect my phone and click scan I get a message telling me to make sure my phone is securely connected and try again. Nothing happens after this. I am on OS 10.1.0.264 if this helps. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Matt,

Have you enabled Development Mode on your Z10 before connecting it to your PC?

To enable development mode, go to Settings > Security and Privacy > Development Mode > Use Development Mode: ON.
    When prompted, enter a password.

After you do that, connect the Z10 to your PC and use DDPB to Scan for your device's IP address.

Enter the password you chose when you enabled Development Mode and then click "Connect (C)".

Let me know if this helps you, or if you have any other questions about DDPB or sideloading in general.

Do I have to use the factory Blackberry charging cable for this to work?

What Windows OS are you running?

You shouldn't have to use the factory cable. Any micro-USB should work. However, it wouldn't hurt to try another cable if you have one laying around.

Do you have the proper Java runtime installed on your computer?

And double check that the IP on the sideloading software is your Dev IP, not your device's internet IP.

Great! Nice to see you got it all resolved. Yes, Windows requires the reboot much of the time.

Glad to see you got it fixed. Most likely the reboot fixed the issue as link is not required to sideload apps.
