Thanks Jlevy! So I can see the advantage to use it locally without any extra charges and also call back to Canada with a long distance calling card. It will be cheaper then paying my next phone bill with all the extras.

You bet. I do a lot of biz in China and VZW charges $2.99/min. When I am there most of my calls are local so far about $10 USD that will last me two weeks of calling. If I was using VZW it would be like $500. Big advantage unless you are Bill Gates rich

Thanks again Jlevy. I would really love to tell you that my name is Bill Gates but you already know I'm not him because I would not try to save money by unlocking my phone. I just won my unlocking code that I will receive soon from you guys. I thank everyone involved in this really helpful forum. I just hope Colombia has a good phone company I can buy minutes from.

From my experience the best/safest place to pick one up is at the airport. When you land and go through customs, there should be little kiosks set up just for local SIM cards.

I couldn't ask for better info. That will be my first move to take advantage of my Storm far from home. Thank you

Here's a question; If I unlock my Storm, when I do upgrades and wipe my phone, does it stay unlocked?
