Thread: 5.0 OS downloadable from the Desktop manager !

just connected my berry for my normal backup and i got this from 5.01

Yeah its been floatin around for a couple of days now... Thanks for the screen shot so others know what to expect...

if i have 5.0.230 installed atm will it hurt to upgrade ? i just did a backup from the desktop manager ?

It should be fine... It should keep the existing info!

Folks, this is NOT a new update. It is caused by the OP already having 5.0.0.230 loaded onto his device; and is actually a bug in DM.

Sporkman, if you click next; it will just reinstall a few CODs from .230 that are already installed.

I am currently running 5.0.0.328 on my VZW 9530 Storm (LATEST Verizon official) and still get this prompt everytime I launch DM.

Again, this is NOT a new OS release.

This is correct and usually happens when you remove COD's to maximize performance.

I think what he was seeing was the updated to Desktop Manager, NOT his OS. I received the same upgrade, and it was to Service Pack one of DM - V. 5.01.

I just got the same thing. The way I understood it was a DM update.

Its the service pack 1 update for DM 5.0. I got it as well.

i had 5.01 installed prior to this /shrug

I believe the 5.01 version 'leaked' a month or two ago, but just finally became official. That said - Where the heck is the next OS 5 leak!!

No, the OP's screenshot specifically refers to "5.0.0 System Software", in other words; the OS. But like I mentioned, it's a Desktop Manager bug. Letting it do it's thing causes no harm, however, ignoring it works just as well. Good old "Cancel" button is the best way to solve the problem, as it never seems to go away.
