    AIM and the tour.

So either later this month, or next month I am going to be picking up my first BB, It will be the tour...Although there is a rumor of the "curve 2", thats a different topic though.

Anyways, If you download the AOL Instant Messenger application. When you send IM's does that count towards your plans text messaging limit?

no... unlike feature based phones smart phones and blackberry's use the data side for that. So as long as you have a data plan you should be good to go.

Thanks! That's awesome, I'd use AIM more then texting I think, and wouldn't want to go over my texting plan that I have with verizon.

    Thanks!

I really can't wait to get it. Although I am ordering it through verizon's site since i can renew my contract and get a new phone, they take out all the rebates instantly so its easier then going to the store...although i am worried about getting one of the older ones with the trackball issue.

Verizon is aware of the trackball issue and should provide you with one of the newer builds. The older ones have been/are being phased out.

So after stopping by at verizon to mess around with the tour. while talking about the blackberry messenger, the people at Verizon insisted that the BBM is the only Instant Messaging service that doesn't use my text messaging plan. They said "If you use any other, application or not, AOL, Yahoo, MSN, it WILL use your text messaging, thats the only way it works."

So now i am really confused.

They would be incorrect. As JN stated as long as you have the BB data plan you will be fine. AIM, yahoo and the rest run off of your Data plan and not your text plan.

Yeah that's what I thought. I just couldn't figure out why they were insisting it doesn't work that way lol.

not sure I have found in the past almost everyone either at the store or on the phone, really don't know much and read off their scripts. It usually takes me several calls to find someone knowledgeable. But that is why we have sites like this
