Thread: Update Email from BB

Just got an update available email from BB. Does anyone know what this update is? I can't install because I'm on BES it says. But, I'm running .53 and don't want to remove BES, etc. if it's the same or lower.

It came to my VZW blackberry email address. I am forwarding it to my BES account so I can retrieve it on my desktop and will attach/post.

It takes me to the BB upgrade site and then opens DM. DM informs me that I cannot update without contacting my IT dept because I'm on a BES. LOL...I am my IT department. I can't go any further.

Also, it says that it's carrier approved, but when I go to the VZW download area it shows 4.7.1.X updated in July of this year. So, either some wires are crossed somewhere, or Big Red has approved one of the minor updates, potentially .42 or .53.

My thoughts anyway...

Well, it's because of BBOS that I can even do this so...quick wipe, reinstall .40 and see what this email is about. I can't be the only person getting it and BBOS needs the info just in case.

I haven't gotten any updates on the Sprint side. Bummer.

Not a problem. Wiped and reinstalling now. It should be long.

someone over at CB mentioned the same thing. I went to RIM's website and looked to see if Sprint had an update and no go. Still says 4.7.1.40(77). Double bummer.

Hopefully I'll find out something shortly. I'm sitting at the pinwheel waiting for first boot. It shows Media Card Inserted but isn't going anywhere ... figures it would pick now to crap out.

.53 is similar to .40/.42 but it works LOL...

No media player issue (MP4/MPG4)
Better connection/signal strength
Faster response than both .40 & .42

Obviously it can't fix a hardware issue (trackball) but other than that it's pretty good.

4.7.1.53 is the available update that has been approved by VZW. I just connected and clicked the link in their email, which took me to the BB update site. From there, I clicked check for update which opened DM App Loader. .53 is the "preferred" installation available for download.

Could a MOD update the title of this thread stating something along the lines of "Official release"? Or something like that?


OH and just to cover the bases, I removed .53 from my system before I installed .40 so there was no trace of it other than the .exe file on my external drive. This is official.

I did...Thanks guys! Hopefully these emails have already circulated and people either haven't updated or haven't posted about it. The funny thing is that as soon as it came in I ran in here LOL...
