I have to recind my post (post #8) I loaded .53 and it is running great. Trackball has smoother operation, BBM, You tube, all my 3rd party apps work flawless. So I would say this is a keeper. Seeing as I couldn't get.191 to load to save my a**, I will stay with this till a better OS is out.

Previously if I had RSA software installed a message recieved in plain text which had an attachment could not be read. That is fixed in .53

I am sorry to say and hope i am wrong and of so I will apologize but after last weeks official release i just spoke with 3 managers at VZW who tells me .53 has not been released yet, also what you see on BB.com is in asian and there is no no OS release on VZW websites.

You are correct Jan. .53 was released by VZW and pulled almost immediately. Then Reliance released 53 as their official OS update yesterday.

I keep geeting told by VZW... no Not released yet,


Since I am not goofing off at work...lol I will wait until I get home to see what comes up on my DM.

What do you think or suggest?

I see a few differences but nothing earth shattering. Personally I never did experience any of the issues except wtih the RSA software. My wife's device was horrible and it did fix the problems with the trackball. What you see now when you order is the box will have a green dot meaning it is good. I hope it comes out officially soon because we are going to roll out 400 of these by October 21st.

The weird thing is that this is downloading from a Blackberry.com website. It has to be something that RIM has released eventhough there is no official word coming through the threads. Interesting

I see the old OS of .40. I also now see .42 and the latest OS .53 from Reliance.

I cannot find an official release from Verizon or BB .com for any of these OSs.

I am trying to find where to go to download thew newest most official stable OS and I cannot even pull anything up from my DM when I plug in my device.

Can someone give me some advice or help.

apparently some of the marketing dudes at both of these places took the week off. I downloaded the .53 upgrade from the link on the BBOS main page. I installed it and it is working okay. Seems a little faster and trackball seems a little more responsive but no real changes to apps or anything else. I haven't had any lockups whatsoever. I used Pandora for an hour straight with no hiccups.

The DL link is coming from Blackberry.com so I was okay with installing it. I don't think that RIM would put something on their site without someone checking it out.

I'm always weary of loading something on my Tour. I even crindge with I load any leaks because you never know. Luckily the team here is very experienced and patient.

i AM GOING TO WAIT UNTIL i SEE IT ON vzw OR bb WEBSITE AND THEN DOWNLOAD IT AFTER I HEAR A WEEKS WORTH OF COMMENTS SINCE MINE IS WORKING GREAT NOW ON .40....

Pat,
I saw that but take a look at the language package being east indian or east asian one odf the other. Do you want that insteadt of all english on yoy device. That is whi I passed on that.

I am going to wait for an official release on BB.com or VZW in the english package.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got off the phone with advanced VZW support and 2nd tier BB support and both told me no matter what people are downloading that says "Official" release it is not.

If it does not come off VZW or BB and you wownload the english version you are not downloading the right OS..
I am only repaeting what I was just told in order to try ande lend a hand on here and help out.

Hope nobody gets mad at me even if they already downloaded the other unofficial OSs.

the beauty of this site, for me so far, is that there's no flaming for sharing. That means a lot. You are just sharing something that is most likely being asked by other visitors or members of the forums. You are definitely applauded for that.

I downloaded it simply because I felt that RIM would not post something unless they really wanted to. Although it does contain "Asia" in the file name, it is a fully English setup. I haven't seen anything foreign whatsoever during and after the setup. The installation of the upgrade went without a hitch and the device is working very well. The neat thing about this is that if it didn't, I just revert back to .40 or .42. No problem. And with the support of this forum, should I come across a problem, these "guys" got my back.

Alright Jag, Yes it's correct that VZW hasn't released .53 yet. But the Reliance .53 is the same exact OS. As long as you delete the vendor file you will have no problem at all. ONly difference in the VZW will be the vendor file itself. Other than that it doesn't matter. As far as the language, it's an all language installer. It will ask what language you want to install when the installer initiates. If you want .53 there is no reson not to use the Reliance official.
