The vzw store that sent to me just sent me a phone and a bettery in a box that shipped it.
I am going to have to go out on a limb here and say a few things... First off you more than likely did get a refurb. otherwise you would have been asked to return everything and you would have gotten back everything= new phone.
lastly if you really want to know, call VZW CS and ask them to transfer you to RIM using their carrier code so you won't have to pay for the tech support call.
Once you get them they are going to ask for the PIN and when they do ask them straight out if this PIN has ever been registered before, they have to tell you.
