Thread: Battery Life Issues

I've had my tour since it's day of release. And the battery life is horriable, i find myself having to charge the phone everynite. I leave my house by 7 with full attery, and I'm down to 45% by 3:30, just with lite texting, and one email. I traded the Storm for the Tour, and I guess I'm stuck with it for now. But I wish there are some tips or something? Or does anyone else have the same issue or Battery life problems in general? Is the Tour worth it, if it doesn't even last you?

My battery life is outstanding with the Tour much much better than the Storm. So either it's an issue with your Tour or perhaps a defective battery. Either way you should bring it back to VZW an exchange it since you are within the first 30 days.

I have to tell ya the tour is kicking the snot out of the storm for me....I'm going to bed with 20-30% after a heavy day

would you mind posting a list of apps you have loaded on your tour.

turn your brightness down, mine came at 100%, I keep my storm at 30%

before you do anything to hastey. What programs do you have installed? 3rd party apps? like weather or news?

Battery has been excellent for me . no complaints..( could be am on EDGE only)

i have bbweather fetching every 60 min,viigo every 2 hours, about 20 min voice. around 100 emails and countless bbm and about an hour of web surfing and general playing around with it. from 7am to 12am im at 30-40% with the tour

when i had my storm with the same apps. my phone would be dead around 4-5 pm if i didnt charge it. so i would have to say the tour is a major improvement.

We'll Right Now I Have BB Messager,Google Maps, Slacker Radio,FaceBook,Myspace,Aim,Quick Pull, And thats really it. I have that all installed by not all running at once. And I have only one email account active. So Who knows where the power goes.

The only one of the apps that consumes memory/battery life is Facebook. But that being said it should not be draining you battery that much. Hence my thought that you may have something defective; either the battery or some hardware issues. I would suggest getting a replacement.

Do you guys know if they even make a extended battery for the tour?

There are no specs listed on their site regarding this product; however, Seido makes excellent batteries and their performance rarely disappoints. Sorry I can't be more specific regarding your question.

It's okay, I like the tour alot. I feel the Phone is more stable then the storm, which is the reason i switched it out. I do miss the touch for the storm. I mean I just like to have a phone that can last throughout the day. Unless the Storm 2 would be a better choice...and sell the tour when released.

The reason I suggest a replacement is because with pretty heavy usage I have no problem going at least a day and half without needing to recharge. But yes I agree, the Tour is much more stable than the Storm IMO.

Yeah, I haven't had my phone freeze at all, or anything, the Speed is great. I only wish there we're better themes..then the two default ones. I will try going in VZW to get a replacement one. And see from there.

i have no battery problems here.

7 hours off charger with heavy use and @ 60% with the tour, my storm would have been @ 10-20% by now

I upgraded from a Pearl to a tour and I can't say I'm upset with the battery life considering just how much stuff I leave running in the background. I do notice about a 50% decrease in battery life if I leave Ubertwitter running in the background. Without that running, I can easily make it from 7a-7p with battery to spare. With it, I'm lucky to get 8 hours. For what it's worth, I usually have Yahoo, Google Maps, Weatherbug, Facebook and a few other random things running. Plus some text messaging (100 or so a day on average) and gmail + corporate email. Like I said, I can't really complain.

ive had ubertwitter running in the background all day and dont see that dramatic of a battery drain. i know that facebook drained my battery on the storm, havent really used it much on the tour yet but i would try closing out of it and see if you notice a difference
