Thread: Tour Pre OS Pre-shrunk includes BBM 5.0

Okay, This is a ***Use at your own risk****

I took the tour OS, shrunk it and removed the normal stuff, and added BBM 5.0


I am looking for someone adventerous enough to try this on their Tour. I am not providing support for this, just looking for a guinea pig.

Post here and I will provide the link.

After shrink memory is at 130 MB.


To use this you will need to have downloaded and installed the Tour software from your provider. Then navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files,

Copy the 9630-v4.7.1.40_P4.1.0.40 folder to the Shared folder.

Delete all files inside the 9630-v4.7.1.40_P4.1.0.40 folder and then paste the files in this package inside the 9630-v4.7.1.40_P4.1.0.40 folder.

Run the Loader.exe program in the apploader folder.

So who's up for this?

Yeah, it starts as 115 but I shrunk another 15mb out of it.

Want to give it a try?

I just installed BBM 5 and also MaxMem and was able to delete a bunch of stuff to get my memory to 133mb with only MaxMem and MSN messenger installed.

Yeah I am little confused as well? With maxmem and all my apps installed I sit at 133mb?

I have been known to be a little slow though :lmao: so just let me know if I am missing something

No your not slow, I just did not get overly aggressive with this shrink. I wan t to put this out there for someone who is afraid to shrink.

Thank god I will make sure I have my wife read this post :lmao: I appreciate you taking the time to throw this together. I would try it as I need to reload my OS but I am only doing that to get rid the new BBM and since yours contains it I will have to pass.

B if you need to reload the the old bbm to the tour first delete it from the phone, then go to the java folder and delete all net_rim_bb_qm_per from there, then reintall the os to the pc and run the app loader that should reload the old bbm

Here are the Tour cod files for the old Messenger, you could just overwrite them in the Java folder, this way there is no need to reinstall the entire os.
