    Sprint Tour backordered from the start?!?

    I ordered my Sprint Sunday at 12:05am right after it posted on the website. Just checked my status tonight and it shows as "backordered".

    I'm curious to hear from the other Sprint customers out there. Has anyone who placed their order have any confirmation that it is being shipped?

    I'm beginning to think that this is all just marketing hype for Sprint to say that they were right in there with Verizon to "release" the Tour on the 12th when in fact they probably have few or none ready to ship. If it is a scheme, I'm sure it was just to try to keep customers from Jumping ship to Verizon because they know that Blackberry users like me have been waiting longer than any other carrier for an updated Blackberry product. I can assure you they have heard from me a few months ago about it and I've been a customer of theirs for almost 11 years now. It's not that I'm impatient and have to have it "now now now!", but I have no tolerance when I feel like I've been taken for a ride. I am beginning to think all Sprint customers have been taken for a ride.

    Anyway, thanks for letting a newbie vent. All you VW customers out there have fun with your Tours. I'll eventually get there.

    You're right. I should try to stay positive too. It's hard after reading all the great reviews from all the new Tour owners and then to see "Backordered" on your status... quite the letdown.

    Still backordered. Was told it is a "Fullfillment Hold". Based on the other forums, no one at Sprint really knows what's going on. We've all been told 5-8 business days every day.

    Oh well... the 8830 keeps trucking on.

    well to boost your hopes... i placed my order at 12:01 for 2 tours (me and bro) and they showed up last night at 7pm... however i placed an order for a 3rd tour (for my pops) at 12:05 and his is backordered! but yes they are shipping and yes they are sweet!

    Agent: It's showing your device as Fulfillment hold.&nl;Meaning your order is still being processed. After the warehouse processing is finished it will ship anywhere from 5 to 8 business days
    You: that's dissapointing. I was under the impression Sprint would have these at the same time as Verizon.... guess that's not the case.

    also that shipping stuff is nonsense... my phone was shipped out over night as well as the other 2 people i know who got theres... after the warehouse processes it, it goes out overnight saver

    Sent a long email to Sprint cs last night laying out all my frustrations. Received a personal, yet uninformative reply this morning. However, the good news is that my order now shows "being processed". Keeping my fingers crossed for a delivery tomorrow.

    better than the nonsense im seeing on my unfilled order

    We have experienced strong demand for the Blackberry Tour which has placed your order, or a portion of your order, in backorder status. While every attempt is made to fulfill orders first in and first out, a system issue earlier in the week resulted in some orders being shipped out of sequence. Our shipping commitment for the Tour remains 5 to 8 business days based on date of order. If you would like to select an alternate product or cancel your backordered item, please call 866-789-8292 between 8:00 a.m. EST to 11:00 p.m. EST Monday to Friday or 9:00 a.m. EST to 9:00 p.m. EST on Saturdays and Sundays.Please note that cancellation requests may not always process successfully due the speed of warehouse processing. If you cancelled your backordered item but still received a shipment, please refuse the shipment or call us to process a return within 30 days of receipt.

    Most of us can't afford to be on Vzw.

    I don't think they actually have the inventory to stock the phones in the stores. Seems to me that Verizon had all the arrangements made with RIM to carry the phones in the stores this past Monday. When Sprint found out, the best they could do is create this false hype that they will be releasing on the 12th as well. Remember, Sprint's announcement came a short time after Verizon's announcement. Except they don't mention that it's only through tele-sales and with very, very few in actual stock to ship. What a scam! ...sorry Olta... I'm trying to stay positive.
