Engadgets hands on the BlackBerry Tour 9630

So how many have been waiting for them to release their review?
I have been and it's finally here! It is a very good review over the phone and they did well with the pictures.
Does this change anymore minds on getting the Tour? Made me want it more for sure!

Be sure to check out Engadget for the full review!

Yep, I'm waiting for the S2 for sure now. I agree with the article though. No wifi is just stupid. The recessed trackball and screen issue are enough for me to stay clear of it and see what the S2 will have in store.

Isn't there always issues with every device? There's always one or two things. iPhone 3GS for example has the battery life and case discoloration issue. I'm willing to bet the S2 will have one or two things crappy about it.

No kidding, you are correct about that. If they were perfect then they wouldn't have a reason to come out with newer ones so quickly. lol

So I had a chance to play with this for a few hours thanks to my friend. It was using the production OS (.40) and I have to say the trackball issue is no big deal and either is the screen. It's so minor that really you will not notice it at all. I agree that no WiFi is stupid IMO but for those wanting a physical keyboard I was really impressed with it. Call quality for example was beyond stellar.

On Phone arena they have a review, that the call quality is horriable on both ends. Is this True? Anyone know how's the battery life doing....

Will any of the apps that I currently use on storm work with Tour or do we now have to start over with apps. For example the new beejive software I am using on the storm. ?

That's a good question. I've asked that myself and I was told most of the apps will work. Its based on the bold/curve operating systems so if there's an app for one of those it should work for the tour. Some of the storm app should work if we tweak the compatibility settings as well.

I'm under the impression that the java files from 5.0.0.100 should work as well.
