I could be wrong but I think most of the effort OS wise is going into Storm 2. Radio feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I'm not radio but you are partially true, since the storm is a relatively new device, RIM is focusing in the upcoming devices, but, don't forget that 5.0 is a universal OS for those Second gen devices (8900, Bold, 8350, and storm)so I think they still have a lot to offer...

True but unfortunately for first gen storm users it may be 4-6 months until Storm 2, which means 5.0 won't be fully compatible until then. I guess the Tour will have to tide me over until then.

Carriers have those OS's just like 5.0 OS's. But you most likely won't see a leak of one of those.

I heard that's how the Onyx OS was, but I think it was sent to carriers or something not that long ago, because I know a couple people with it.

I'm gonna say that's very true. Just look at some of the new features that have arose from those leaks. SureType on QWERTY, new boot up, new BBM, there's most likely a lot more features to still come.

5.0 dev on the storm is going well. there has not been a build that I would consider production ready yet. On a side note the 5.0 builds on the tour are fine but they are basically the same as the 8900 and bold builds. The touch of the storm seems to cause all os's an issue..
