Rumors are circulating that Verizon will be issuing an update for the 9630 BlackBerry Tour tonight after 5:00PM EST. It is also speculated this will NOT be the long awaited OFFICIAL 5.0 OS release, but rather more of a maintenance upgrade to 4.7.1.61. Personally, as a former Tour owner, I know how impatient I was for a 5.0 release, and honestly don't see the point in less than that.

Do we have an estimated time? Personally, I think any less than 5.x is silly and a waste of time. On another note... I hope VZW gives tour owners the same early upgrade option they are giving storm owners when the 9650 drops....

The tour was supposed to get 5.0 the same day as the first storm but there was a last second glitch found. I would be highly surprised if its not 5.0

I have just been told by a co-worker that Verizon told him that 5.0 would be released not the .61. I guess we will know for sure shortly. Maybe this would explain why things have been so quiet on the Tour front. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Agree with your initial post. What's the point of a 4.7 release instead of 5.0. Think they are having problems? You'd think that they'd focus on 5.

The only reason I can see for this release is apparently something in 5.0 isn't ready (although it doesn't make too much sense, the hardware in the Tour basically matches the Storm). And 4.7.1.61 is later than 4.7.1.57; so at least they can say they fixed the browser vulnerability.

Very sad IMO. To not have released a 5.0 OS for the tour is just not right. I just am not buying that a OS 5 isn't ready for the device.
