Thread: Sound Quality of 9850

I have had my Blackberry 9850 since about July or so. I am with Sprint. I was curious how the sound quality is for everyone else. Seems like a few times a week I someone tell me that they hear echo or can barely hear me. I never had this before with my previous Blackberry (8220 I believe it was).

Is anyone else having this problem or people telling you that they hear echo when talking to you? I called Sprint about it a few months ago and they could not find any problems. It actually got better for a little bit, but I think that was with the last OS. I just upgraded to the recent OS for the 9850 (v7.1.0.267) and now I am hearing it again.

My parents are in their 80s and it is very difficult to have a conversation with them when they are telling me over and over that they hear echo or they can barely hear me. I realize that it could depend on the connection I have each time or the signal, but I do not recall this happening as often with my old Blackberry.

If you are experiencing this with multiple people over multiple operating systems, then it most likely is a hardware issue with your device. Do you have your device under warranty? If so, I would contact your service provider about getting a replacement.

Perhaps bring your phone into the store and call one of the service reps to try and replicate the problem. Good luck, let us know what comes of this.

Yes, it is under maintenace. I will look into it. I realized tonight that the volume is on high. I think it is picking up the sound coming through the ear piece and causing the echo for the other person. I am going to test.

Odd. That did it. I do not recall having this problem prior to upgrade. I did a test with my parents. They said I sounded fine, so I turned the volume to high and they said there was echo.

Joe, do you have it happen with your 9850?
