Thread: BlackBerry Storm 3 Finally Emerges - Full Details

We saw details about the Torch 2, Dakota and Apollo emerge via BGR at DevCon Asia. Just when you thought RIM was done announcing new devices, we receive more information on the BlackBerry Storm 3 release. Highlights include an 800x480 display, trackpad and a 1.2 GHz processor. Although, where is the front facing camera for video chat? If this device is tracking for a September release, we may see more by then, I'll cut em' a break... for now. I'm guessing with this flurry of BB devices, Verizon should cling to a couple of them. Maybe the New Storm and Curve. The Torch 2 they may leave alone.

im sure the torch 2 will go to at&t. i hope they get the storm or whatever they may end up calling it, really dont want to have to switch carriers.

I agree, as much as I dislike Verizon, I don't want to switch either.

yea, i have some issues with them to but i'll deal with it to keep the coverage

I can see the trackpad being a great use for a directional pad for games in landscape view.

You said a mouth full, by September no telling what new devices will drop. iPhone4, Droid Bionic, and others which will carry some nice specs as well. I think RIM is going to pay the price for this delay

A Magnetometer is basically a digital compass. Here are a few details from Wiki...

Magnetometers are appearing in mobile phones. The HTC HD2, Nokia C7-00, HTC Dream, HTC Evo, HTC Wildfire, Apple iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad, Motorola Droid[6], Motorola Quench, Nokia N97, Nokia E72, Nokia N8, Nokia E5, Xperia X10, Samsung i8910, Samsung Wave S8500, Samsung Galaxy S, Nexus One and the HTC Hero all have a magnetometer and come with compass apps for showing direction.[7][8]
Researchers in Deutsche Telekom have used magnetometers embedded in those devices to perform touch-less 3d interaction around mobile device. Their interaction framework called MagiTact tracks changes to the magnetic field around a cellphone to identify different gestures by a hand holding or wearing a magnet.[9]

i had the storm on tmo... i actually liked it... just didnt like the fact i couldnt use 3g.... i wuld have gotten the torch unlocked for tmo... but no 3g... i cant deal with edge...loving my 9700 with os6...

Specs are awesome... For Q12011 not in Q32011. This phone is awesome. But to leap forward we need this phone now and QNX dual core in Q3.
