Thread: Bb appworld icon disappeared after an upgrade :((

HI EVERYONE,
recently i updated my bb torch os 6 with new app world version 4.0.0.65. but after the update my appworld icon has just disappeared.the software shows up in the installed applications list but there is no icon on the menu screen.
i ve uninstalled and installed it plenty of times but nothing works. i ve restarted the device as well. now i am not able to install anything through the appworld as well.

plz help.... how i should solve this problem...

This should do the trick.

Resolution 1

On BlackBerry 6 OS versions prior to 6.0.0.706 and the App World Icon is not visible, please download and install the BlackBerry App World 4.0.0.55.

1. Open the BlackBerry Browser on the BlackBerry smartphone.
2. Browse to http://mobileapps.blackberry.com/dev...code=appworld3
3. After download, please restart your BlackBerry smartphone when prompted.
4. Verify that BlackBerry App World is located on the home screen.

Resolution 2

On the home screen, press the BlackBerry menu button and select Show All, and verify the screen is in the ALL panel home screen.

1. If the BlackBerry App World icon does not appear, enter each folder and perform step 1 again.
2. Highlight the BlackBerry App World icon, press the BlackBerry menu button, and select Hide. This will deselect the hide setting, removing the check mark from it.

hi thanks for the reply ,,but this is not working out for me either,,when i go to the link u mentioned above, it jus says no s/w found. and whenever i delete the appworld and again download it version 4.0.0.65 is only available,,
kindly suggest some other means by which i can download the previous version . or wiping the device would solve the problem?

As far as i know if you use OS 6 you only can have App World V. 3.
I did it before, my torch is OS 6 then i upgrade App World to V 4 and it disappear.
Then i downgrade App World to V. 3 again and it appear again

App world V4 does work on OS6 devices, but it is buggy as hell on certain devices. My wife has never experienced any problems one her Curve 9300 but I have had lots of troubles with it on my Bold 9700. I haven't experienced the missing shortcut problem but I have had the problem where you try to run App World and nothing happens. If you reboot the phone, and check the "Switch Application" after the phone has finished rebooting, App World is already running and you cannot, no matter what you do, get it to load.....and there is no way to stop the App World process to restart it again. Re-installing App World does no good.....the only fix I have found is to wipe the phone and re-install the OS.

The good thing is, after months of trying to figure this problem out, I have just this week figured out how I can prevent it from happening. It seems that the issue occurs if you choose the "Restart Now" option after you have upgraded an app while App World is still open, once the phone reboots, you can no longer get App World to load. The trick I have learned is to choose "Restart Later" as you exit out of App World. Once you have completely exited from App World, do a battery pull to complete the app upgrade.

Sorry my ramble doesn't really help the OP's problems but thought I would share.

It most likely will.....No guarantees tho. If you have some time to kill and don't mind going through the process of re-installing the OS, it is the way I would go. Before doing that though, have you tried the suggestions in this thread - BBOS How To: Recover A Missing App Icon After Upgrade

thanks everyone for the help..i fixed this problem,,i just installed the os 6.0..0.600 from 6.0.0 246 ,,and now my phone's speed has increased and all the missing icons are also back..
