Nuked Blackberry? HELP!

Hey all,

I'm so ANNOYED. Yesterday my phone froze up and tried to reboot itself and then the screen just went black and the red LED started flashing on & off about every 10 seconds. Now what it's doing is the reboot loop - LED on, blackberry reboot, stops rebooting after the bar reaches not even 1/4 of the way through, black screen and repeats itself.

I've read the guide on how to recover a nuked BB, but my issue that I'm having is when I use the AppLoader I simply CANNOT get it to say PIN:UNKNOWN. It only says my pin. There isn't even a split second where it says unknown so I can't proceed.

If I try and go through with the Loader as it being my pin and not unknown, it gets stuck at Reconnecting to JVM (because the phone is constantly rebooting).

Any advice?! I've alwyays loved RIM. Don't fail me now!

What model of BlackBerry do you have?
And I'm assuming your using the Windows version of BlackBerry Desktop Software, not the Mac OSX version right?

So instead of saying PIN:UNKNOWN, it says PIN:<YOUR_PIN> ?
Try going ahead with selecting that anyways to see what happens.

Hello smilingeyes, and welcome to ::bbos::

I hear that issue many times that the BlackBerry PIN will not show up via AppLoader.

The solution to that issue is to go to your bottom right side of the screen, right-click, look for Start Task Manager, go to Processes, when you see BbDevManager.exe aka BlackBerry Device Manager, right click, and End Process.

I guarantee you will be able to connect to AppLoader now, and your PIN will show up no problem.

However, my issue is that if you look at the guide for how to recover a Nuked BB, it says that you WANT it to say PIN:UNKNOWN in AppLoader to proceed (because it stops the rebooting loop) but with mine, it actually DOES say my pin but I want it to say UNKNOWN.

I've tried proceeding with it saying my pin, but it gets stuck at Reconnecting to JVM, because of the rebooting loop.

Okay you're going to have to try the battery trick then. I literally just did this for a friend of mine last week so I know it works. Here are the steps.

1.) Open the Loader.exe
2.) Connect your BlackBerry to the computer via USB without the battery.
3.) Click "Next"
4.) When it finds your PIN, insert the battery and quickly click "Next" ONCE. The reason I say once is because the "next" button will be clickable after you click it the first time but if you do click it a second time, you will be prompted with a failure message pretty much.
5.) Wait for the Loader.exe to respond (it may freeze up to 10 seconds - it does that on my PC) and it'll automatically take you to next screen which will let you reload the OS.

Doing this battery thing can be a little tricky so it may take a couple of tries so if you don't get it the first time, close the loader, disconnect the BB, take the battery and start all over again.

This is the best way to recover a BB that's stuck in an endless reboot cycle. By not inserting the battery until after it registers your PIN, you are in essence buying yourself some time for the JVM to connect.

Give it a try and report back. We'll be here.

Still no luck. If I follow through with the AppLoader when it says my pin instead of unknown - it always gets stuck at reconnecting to JVM. I can't bypass the reboot loop if it says my pin. This is severely frustrating as everywhere I'm reading - people are able to get around the reboot loop but I can't :(

Does it matter that I didn't "wipe" my bb? I haven't done anything to it except try to use AppLoader. I read somewhere that you won't see PIN:UNKNOWN unless you wipe your bb, however that wasn't in the guide at all so I'm skeptical.

Okay how about this? Take the battery out, connect it to your PC, press next and on the next screen it'll say your pin. Do not reinsert your battery but instead wait, the pin should disappear and change to unknown that way. Reinsert the battery then and try to reload the os then

hi again i posted in the previous thread on recovering a nuked bb and was told i should come here, i also still have the same problem that smilingeyes is having over and over again i still cant manage to recover my bb as its been a couple of weeks now again i am now left with a useless torch and have had to purchase yet another blackberry, the new curve this time, but i want my torch back! Its the best bb I've had and aside from how much this is all costing I enjoy my torch :( pls someone what can i do

also i am getting text in the apploader after these failed attempts telling me that the desktop software does not have the blackberry device software for my device which again leaves me baffled as i installed it originally with the disc that came with my torch AND i have re downloaded and installed since this and still no luck! (also the bb desktop manager is saying it cant communicate with my device)

Hi shortie, do you have the latest Desktop Manager? I yours is not v6.1.0, delete the version you have and get the latest from BlackBerry, you can get Desktop Manager below;
Download: Desktop Software v6.1.0 B38 (Multilanguage)
Maybe the newest version will recognize your device.

I assume that you have tried all suggestions given by agent blackberry and grim reaper? This answer will assist us in getting your Torch running.

I have no idea about how to write on forums or use any of this technical stuff, I had the same problem but managed to reset my phone, I'm pretty pi**ed this happened its like half 12 I've had no dinner and now a nekked phone! Fml. But if you guys want to know how to do this..

1.start up bb desktop software, open up Apploader , try to connect your phone and it should remember your pin

2.Then go back to BB Desktop Software and it should have a pop up saying something along the lines of 'If your device doesn't respond, click continue to reinstall some crap....

3. Follow it through but do not press UPGRADE unless you want all you precious pictures and important contacts gone -.-

It will take some time but you'll have a working phone again :)

Somebody here should pls help me. I have a BBTorch9800. I cannot just restart my device. It gets nuked all the time. Evrytime I restart, it get stuck in a reboot loop. I have to use apploader to reload OS again. Its so tiring. Somebody shud pls help me. What can I do to get my bb to be rebooting normally without getting nuked? Am I using the wrong os version? If so what is the best version that will make my device to brestarting normally withought getting stuck in a reboot loop. Thanks yall.
