I would say that question is hard to pinpoint, as there can be numerous factors as to why you're experiencing a low network signal.

Have you moved recently to an area where there isn't as many towers transmitting a strong network signal?

(an area where the carrier's towers are not as strong or many surrounding towers as compared to another area where there is a stronger signal plus several towers).

Have you recently changed to a different cell phone carrier?

but I'm still in the same area, BB 9000 my friend got a strong network and that makes me wonder.
is there any influence of the software versions I've upgraded ..???

how long ago did you upgrade to the 706 OS? Did you download it OTA (over the air)? Did you follow the directions found here? All In One Guide - How To Upgrade Your Device - with Pictures & Videos
Or did you download via your carrier?

With this information, we should get you on the right track.

I downloaded the 706 OS and my 9800 connection went from EDGE to 3G at my home where I've never had 3G before.
