I am looking for a reliable FREE ap that will allow me to access me files on my computer at work from my phone (torch). I have tried Tonido but can't seem to get it to work consistantly. I need to be able to download the file to my phone edit it and save it to computer at work remotely. Any suggestions??
I know you said free, but I am sorry to say there are not very many free software for the kind of remote access you are looking for. I know a couple that I use for ssh connections are pretty good. The only ones i can think of are not free. I will give you the links for them anyway.

An ssh connection is a raw tunnel otherwise known as " Secure Shell" that allows data to be passed between two networked devices. Its used primarily for UNIX and Linux remote connections, and utilizes the command line interface.
I use a ssh client on my BB called MidpSSH. Really good client and it is free.
