Thread: Browser problems on the Torch

Question, does anybody else have any problems with the browser used on the torch??
I keeps hanging ever now and then and fails to open some pages at which the Bold 9000 does not have any problems with.
(does not mather if it for mobile use or desktop)

Tryed to find if you can set the browser in to a other mode but have not found it so far.
Any suggestions what to try??

1. from the option selection look for service book option
2. if there's two service book for (browser) delete one of them and try to browse again.

Haven't found service books that should not be there.

just for extra info about what i keep encounter.
The browser when a mobile site is available try's to open it but fails to get any further.
It's not possible to get the desktop version to open instead either.:irked:
try Lufthansa - Homepage and you get the point.
Bold 9000/9700 have no problems with it.

I have this same problem.
Although sometimes mine works and othertimes it doesnt?

Fixed mine by turning off the WiFi... still have not got it going properly but I will update once I do.

I too have found that this happens when using WIFI, obviously this is an issue that BB are just going to have to resolve in an update at some point.

I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


I assigned a static DNS and that did not help... at first...


But when i checked the box marked "Allow inter-access point handover" at the bottom of the WiFi network screen it started to work perfectly.
At last everything on my Torch is working wonderfully.

Meh..I tried that, after deleting and then re-joining the network then selected Allow inter-access point handover. This allowed access to two web pages over wifi then back to the same old issue.

Guess I'll swap out the Torch tomorrow.

OK try checking the wireless router.
It might be something in that or did you assign a static DNS?
If not do so, if you did, release it but keep the inter-access point ticked.

Just some ideas.

I had an old netgear router which I changed with the new netgear router and I now can access wifi.

All settings are the same.

Strange but now resolved for me.

Well done.
I think mine is much the same as one of our PC's has also developed problems with its WiFi.

The PC is from the UK and the router from the US so it might just need either resetting or a kick up the backside...

It's bizarre! Everything else we have connected to the router (PS3, 3 laptops, HTC Desire, HTC Legend, Curve 8520) all connected without issue. It just seemed that this Torch had it's issues.

The offending router is the Netgear WNR2000 which is the newer of the routers, has WPS on it and is supposed to be the better of the two.

The old router is the Netgear WPM824 v2.

I had full strength signal both near and away from the router I even unattached all other connections just in case there were too many devices connected.

I swapped my Torch for another and still had the same issue which made me come to the conclusion it was the router at fault.

Hope you get your issue solved. I may email both RIM and Netgear to see if they can get their acts together? Doubtful but worth a try?

There we go because I also have the WNR2000 from Netgear as well!!!

My service provide has also been out because we had intermittent data for over a month and they found it was the router again!
I am going to see about a Cisco one I think.
Or see if there is a firmware upgrade.

This method requires that you already have a blackberry on your particular carrier. (or access to one).

1. Switch your SIM into your old device, Register on the network and push your servicebooks to ensure you have the latest (I used a Q-tell 9700 "Qatar telecommunications")
(THIS IS CRITICAL, make sure the SIM is in your old phone. You will not have the necessary Browserconfig SB if you skip this step and therefore still won't be able to surf the web. Do not skip this even if it seems pointless, activate your old blackberry!. Some people skipped it and wondered why the process didn't work...)

2. Go into options, advanced, servicebooks - HOLD THE ALT KEY and type SBEB. This will enable Legacy servicebook restore mode which allows you to backup/restore ALL of your servicebooks (Not just the ones RIM allows you to backup).

3. In Desktop Manager, plug in your 9700 (or whatever you used), go to backup-restore/advanced, on the right hand side select the servicebooks on your 9700 and press the "Left Arrow" to copy them to your PC. On the left hand side highlight the newly copied servicebooks, click file/save and name them something, 9800Servicebook for example, and save the file to the desktop. You've just made a COMPLETE BACKUP of your carriers servicebooks.

4. Switch your SIM back into the 9800, go to options/servicebooks, HOLD THE ALT KEY and type SBEB to enable Legacy SB restore mode.

5. Plug the 9800 into DM and restore the servicebooks that you just created using backup-restore/advanced.

6. Rebewt and bob's ur uncle, working for all carriers. (if MMS is still tiny, it's bc the 9800 isn't identified on the network as a supported device).

IF YOU DECIDE TO MAKE YOUR SERVICEBOOK FILE PUBLIC FOR OTHER USERS, MAKE SURE YOU DELETE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL SERVICEBOOKS BEFORE YOU MAKE THE BACKUP.

This is the way that i get it works ..!

im experiencing thesame problem.. but couldnt seem to find the 2 book browser..

if im using opera mini...browser is ok... but when i get to use the bb browser..its no longer working... how can i fix it?..

does a wipe out solves the problem...

what about an OS upgrade...

What OS version are you using? Changing the OS can sometimes help but not always
