RIM promo video shows off Torch 9800 features

In preparation for the August 15th launch of the newest BlackBerry, RIM has released a pretty nifty promo video. Highlighting the new features that the Waterloo smartphone maker hopes will make a big splash with consumers, this video doesn't go too in-depth. Fast segments and short demos keep even us ADD folks interested without boring you to tears. The acting, for the most part, was a little lackluster, but I can forgive them for that as long as I get to see that sexy Torch.

Man, I tell ya, watching this makes me wish the launch date was here already. A revamped webkit browser, OS 6, and a touchscreen done right, although I could do without the integrated social media stuff.. Plus the blond near the beginning isn't hard on the eyes either. Hey AT&T, if I pre-order 20 of these things, do I get her PIN too?

Cant wait to get your paws on a 9800? Tell us about it below.

This phone is junk. Its made from hardware from 3 years ago. C'mon RIM how are you going to compete with your competitors with this embarrassing display of "innovation".

With a screen double the size of that of the 9700 and 9650, don't you think a higher resolution would have been needed. A chip that isn't even at 1GHz...embarrassing.

RIM has been riding the security train for far too long. It's not going to be long before Android and Apple catch up to their level of security, then say bye bye to RIM.

I agree. That hardware is old news. Is damn near primitive at best. I had a vertical slider phone before 2004!! Wtf RIM! Don't get me wrong I love BlackBerrys but I can't help but to feel embarrased. I have the storm 2. Which is supposed to be a top of the line phone. My friend bought the EVO and I feel like mines is a friggin star tac! RIM needs to step up hard and fast. I'm if it wasn't for the network I'd jump to a different carrier for the EVO or the apple.

You may have had a vertical sliding T9 standard phone in 04', I think I may have had one also.

However, I would put money on that fact that you did not have a touchscreen, Vertical Sliding PDA BlackBerry Capable of anything near what the 9800 can do.

Yes the Vertical Slider is slightly old-school, however RIM is doing it Brand new with all new aspects. Lets not knock this phone till you have your hands on it, ok?

Let's be frank, RIM hasn't been very impressive. Neither with the hardware or software. Is not knocking RIM down but they have been lagging behind hard. Yes the torch seems to have many bells and whistles, but let's be honest is not impressive at all.

The first storm was impressive at first. But we all know that it was all icing and no cake. OS 6 is long overdue. But in my own opinion is just not worth extending a contract. innovation is called for. Not reinvention.
