I do agree.
Just saw this on Crackberry. It is the first known pictures of the new Blackberry Slider. The link to the post is below! What do you guys think?
Pics of Blackberry Slider
The idea of of a BlackBerry slider has been entertained for the past couple years. Recently there has been a few patent diagrams of a BlackBerry slider and other rumors. Including the thought of a portrait BlackBerry slider. BBLeaks has posted photos that appear to be that of a portrait BlackBerry slider that is most likely some form of a prototype. It's unclear as to many of the specifics of how these photos came about. But who doesn't like a leaked photo of a BlackBerry RIM is/was developing.
The hardware certainly looks modern. It has the sleek call, menu, back buttons along with a track pad. So we know these photos seem up to date with other design features that we've seen with the latest BlackBerry devices. Just looking at the slide out keyboard though, it looks like it could be cramped. It's too bad there aren't any shots of the back. Would be nice to see how it looks while the keyboard is slid out.
But judging by the popular opinion we've seen in other discussions about a BlackBerry slider, I have to wonder how successful a device like this could be. Most people seem against the idea of a slider for various reason. One of them being that a landscape slider would not be easy to use one handed. A portrait slider such as the one pictured certainly aims to solve that. It should be very interesting if we get more information about this device and whether or not this idea has been abandoned or how much further along in development it is.
On the other hand, I can't help but wonder if maybe RIM should forget about experimenting with any new hardware form factors for the time being and focus more on the OS. It's probably a mix of the two, but the BlackBerry OS is probably more in need of some new innovations. As we all know, OS 5.0 certain has left room for improvement. And from a aesthetics stand point, a lot of improvement is needed there.
So what are your thoughts, love it or hate? How would you change it? And can any BlackBerry slider be successful in your opinion?
I want one!
So this isn't a touch screen since it has a trackpad?
I'm not loving it. It looks long and thick ...
I like it more when its slide on the side the same as Nokia N97
I don't care which side - it's a slider and better yet an advancement by RIM! Granted I do prefer this way much more than the side slider (side slider would be nice, but I've never been too talented at it in the past - I only want one to learn how to type on it Lol). I think it's a great idea and I'll probably be holding my carrier switch until this bad boy hit's the shelves.
I really hope this is not the storm 3. i really like the idea of having a slider cause rim makes good keyboard phones, any one who used a BB with a keyboard knows it pretty darn good than any other device. but this phone should not be categorized as a storm model. because the storm2 hasnt been out that long, so therefore rim is work on something complete different. the Storm Models should'NT! change to became a slider. but to be more of a an original storm type but thinner, faster an future upcoming OS ready proof. i really dont like the idea of this being named a storm"#" an im countin on rim employees to have an agreement and name this device differently.
but this slider looks cool an it better not be the storm3
I must admit it looks soooo much like the "fake" picture published at the weekend.
im still not sure it will be anything like that but I want one whatever it looks like! :Eyecrazy:
It is the same picture, look here is the thread.
....I don't hate it....
The concept is interesting though, and I don't think that will be the final look, so we really shouldn't be making judgments now.
I don't hate it actually. The idea of a keyboard and touch would be pretty cool. I would check it out. Now the real question, how far away from seeing it on the shelf?
