Yuck.
I do agree.
Just saw this on Crackberry. It is the first known pictures of the new Blackberry Slider. The link to the post is below! What do you guys think?
Pics of Blackberry Slider
The idea of of a BlackBerry slider has been entertained for the past couple years. Recently there has been a few patent diagrams of a BlackBerry slider and other rumors. Including the thought of a portrait BlackBerry slider. BBLeaks has posted photos that appear to be that of a portrait BlackBerry slider that is most likely some form of a prototype. It's unclear as to many of the specifics of how these photos came about. But who doesn't like a leaked photo of a BlackBerry RIM is/was developing.
The hardware certainly looks modern. It has the sleek call, menu, back buttons along with a track pad. So we know these photos seem up to date with other design features that we've seen with the latest BlackBerry devices. Just looking at the slide out keyboard though, it looks like it could be cramped. It's too bad there aren't any shots of the back. Would be nice to see how it looks while the keyboard is slid out.
But judging by the popular opinion we've seen in other discussions about a BlackBerry slider, I have to wonder how successful a device like this could be. Most people seem against the idea of a slider for various reason. One of them being that a landscape slider would not be easy to use one handed. A portrait slider such as the one pictured certainly aims to solve that. It should be very interesting if we get more information about this device and whether or not this idea has been abandoned or how much further along in development it is.
On the other hand, I can't help but wonder if maybe RIM should forget about experimenting with any new hardware form factors for the time being and focus more on the OS. It's probably a mix of the two, but the BlackBerry OS is probably more in need of some new innovations. As we all know, OS 5.0 certain has left room for improvement. And from a aesthetics stand point, a lot of improvement is needed there.
So what are your thoughts, love it or hate? How would you change it? And can any BlackBerry slider be successful in your opinion?
I want one!
So this isn't a touch screen since it has a trackpad?
I'm not loving it. It looks long and thick ...
